A new species of Linan Hlavac? (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Pselaphinae) from Shenzhen, China.

ABSTRACT: A new Chinese species of the genus Linan Hlavá?, 2003, L.qiniangmontis sp. nov., is described based on two male and three female specimens from sifted leaf litter samples at Qiniang Mountain, Shenzhen City, Guangdong. The species can be readily recognized and separated from all congeners based on the forms of the male antennae, the metaventral processes, and the aedeagus.

Project description:Six new species of the genus Linan Hlavá? are described from central to southern China: L.arcitibialis sp. n. (Hubei), L.denticulatus sp. n. (Guizhou), L.divaricatus sp. n. (Jiangxi), L.geneolatus sp. n. (Guizhou), L.mangshanus sp. n. (Hunan), and L.mulunensis sp. n. (Guangxi), with illustrations of habitus and major diagnostic characters. Linanmegalobus Yin & Li, originally described from Guizhou, is newly recorded in Hubei. An updated key to and a distributional map of all 16 known species are provided.

Project description:Eight new species of the genus Batrisodes Reitter are described from continental China, seven of which were found in association with ants: B. abdominalissp. n. and B. tianmuensissp. n. with an Ectomomyrmex ant from Zhejiang; B. grossussp. n. with an Odontomachus ant from Guangxi; B. simianshanussp. n. with an Aphaenogaster ant from Chongqing; B. qiuluisp. n. with a Pheidole ant, B. xuhaoisp. n. with a Lasius ant, and B. zhouchaoisp. n. with Lasius and Nylanderia ants from Sichuan. Batrisodes zethussp. n. was collected from a leaf litter sample.

(based on one female), from Yunnan, Southwest China are described, illustrated and distinguished from allied species. The body size, form of maxillary palpi, male and female genital structures, and distributional patterns are used to separate the new species.

A remarkable new Awas Lobl from southern China (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Pselaphinae).

Project description:A new distinctive species of the rare Oriental goniacerine genus Awas Löbl, Awas gigas sp. n., is described and illustrated, based on three males and fourteen females taken at the Daoyao Shan Natural Reserve in the southern Chinese province of Guangxi. All specimens were collected from colonies of the ant genus Pachycondyla F. Smith nesting in decomposing woods.

Project description:Tangius indicus sp. n. (Batrisitae: Batrisini) is described and illustrated from the Indian States of Meghalaya (Khasi Hills, type locality) and West Bengal (Darjeeling). Specimens of the new species are similar to those of the recently described T. glabellus Yin & Li from Tibet, Southwest China, and can be separated only by minor differences of the male features.

The new species is morphologically closely related to Tychobythinusabnormipes Reitter, 1910, and Tychobythinuspauper Kiesenwetter, 1858, but can be readily distinguished from both by having very simplified internal armature of the aedeagus, and by the specific shape of the gular depression.
