We explored the approach of using an analog of E-64, a well-known and hydrophilic cysteine cathepsin (CC) inhibitor, as a potent cysteine cathepsin-trapping agent (CCTA) to improve the tumor retention of low-molecular-weight, receptor-targeted radiopharmaceuticals.
