Aurophilic interaction plays a very important role in gold-related clusters. Here, we investigate the Au <sub><i>n</i></sub> Cl <sub><i>n</i>+1</sub> <sup>-</sup> (<i>n</i> = 1-7) cluster ions using Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry in combination with theoretical calculations.
