Synthesis and crystal structure of calcium hydrogen phosphite, CaHPO₃.

ABSTRACT: The hydro-thermal synthesis and crystal structure of the simple inorganic compound CaHPO₃, which crystallizes in the chiral space group P4₃2₁2, are reported. The structure is built up from distorted CaO₇ capped trigonal prisms and HPO₃ pseudo pyramids, which share corners and edges to generate a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The structure of cerium(IV) bis-(phosphite), Ce(HPO3)2, has been solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and has trigonal (P-3m1) symmetry. The cerium(IV) cation exhibits site symmetry -3m. and is octa-hedrally coordinated by O atoms of the phosphite ligands (point group symmetry 3m.). The highly symmetrical compound has a layered structure parallel to the ab plane, and is closely related to zirconium(IV) bis-(phosphite) solved via powder X-ray diffraction with trigonal (P-3 symmetry. Structural details of the two compounds are comparatively discussed.

Synthesis and crystal structure of ebastinium hydrogen fumarate.

Project description:The structure of ebastinium hydrogen fumarate {systematic name: 1-[4-(4-tert-butyl-phen-yl)-4-oxobut-yl]-4-(di-phenyl-meth-oxy)piperidin-1-ium (E)-3-carb-oxy-1-hy-droxy-prop-2-en-1-olate}, C32H40NO2 +·C4H3O4 -, a 1:1 salt formed in the reaction between ebastine and fumaric acid is presented. All examined crystals were found to be twinned by pseudo-merohedry. The structure is extensively disordered, with over half (20 out of 35) its non-hydrogen atoms modelled as lying over two sets of sites. In the crystal, cation-anion pairs are linked by a strong N-H⋯O hydrogen bond [N⋯O = 2.697 (11) Å]. These units inter-act via weaker C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π contacts to form layers lying parallel to the bc plane. The hydrogen fumarate anions are linked by a very short O-H⋯O hydrogen bond [O⋯O = 2.5402 (17) Å], augmented by weak C-H⋯O contacts into pairs of R 2 2(6) ring motifs to form chains that extend parallel to the b-axis direction. Comparisons to similar crystal structures are presented.

Dilead(II) hydrogen-phosphite dinitrate.

Project description:In the title compound, Pb(2)(HPO(3))(NO(3))(2), the two distinct Pb(2+) ions (both with site symmetry m) adopt irregular PbO(10) coordination polyhedra. The structure is completed by two distinct nitrate groups (in which one O atom and the N atom have m site symmetry for both ions) and an HPO(3) (2-) anion (in which one O atom and the P and H atoms have m site symmetry). The connectivity of the PbO(10), NO(3) and HPO(3) units in the crystal structure results in a three-dimensional network.

Hydro-flux synthesis and crystal structure of Tl3IO.

Project description:Single-crystals of thallium(I) iodide oxide Tl3IO were obtained as by-product in a hydro-flux synthesis at 473 K for 10 h. A potassium hydroxide hydro-flux with a water-base molar ratio of 1.6 and the starting materials TlNO3, RhI3 and Ba(NO3)2 was used, resulting in a few black needle-shaped crystals. X-ray diffraction on a single-crystal revealed the hexa-gonal space group P63/mmc (No. 194) with lattice parameters a = 7.1512 (3) Å and c = 6.3639 (3) Å. Tl3IO crystallizes as hexa-gonal anti-perovskite (anti-BaNiO3 type) and is thus structurally related to the alkali-metal halide/auride oxides M 3 XO (M = K, Rb, Cs; X = Cl, Br, I, Au). The oxygen atoms center thallium octa-hedra. The [OTl6] octa-hedra share trans faces, forming a linear chain along [001]. Twelve thallium atoms surround each iodine atom in an [ITl12] anti-cubocta-hedron. Thallium and iodine atoms together form a hexa-gonal close-sphere packing, in which every fourth octa-hedral void is occupied by oxygen.

Synthesis and redetermination of the crystal structure of NbF5.

Project description:Single crystals of NbF5, niobium(V) fluoride, have been obtained by the reaction of niobium metal in a stream of dilute elemental fluorine at 473 K and subsequent sublimation. The as-obtained bulk phase compound was shown to be pure by powder X-ray diffraction at 293 K and by IR and Raman spectroscopy. A single-crystal X-ray analysis was conducted at 100 K. In comparison to the previously reported structure model [Edwards (1964 ▸). J. Chem. Soc. pp. 3714-3718], the lattice parameters and fractional atom coordinates were determined to much higher precision and individual, anisotropic displacement parameters were refined for all atoms.

Hydrogen bonding in cytosinium dihydrogen phosphite.

Project description:In the title compound, C(4)H(8)N(3)O(4)P(+)·H(2)PO(3) (-), the cytosine mol-ecule is monoprotonated and the phospho-ric acid is in the monoionized state. Strong hydrogen bonds, dominated by N-H⋯O inter-actions, are responsible for cohesion between the organic and inorganic layers and maintain the stability of this structure.

Project description:The crystal structure of 'aquabis-(di-hydrogen citrato)calcium hydrate', better formulated as aqua-(citric acid)(hydrogen citrato)calcium monohydrate, (I), has been solved and refined using synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data, and optimized using density functional techniques. The CaO8 coordination polyhedra are isolated, but occur in layers parallel to the ab plane. Both the Rietveld-refined and DFT-optimized structures indicate that one citrate is doubly ionized and that the other is citric acid. All of the active hydrogen atoms participate in strong (11-16 kcal mol-1) hydrogen bonds. Hydrogen atoms were added to the existing calcium hydrogen citrate trihydrate structure [Sheldrick (1974 ▸). Acta Cryst. B30, 2056-2057; CSD refcode: CAHCIT], (II), and a DFT calculation was carried out to assess the hydrogen bonding and compare it to this optimized structure.

Crystal Structure Features of CsPbBr3 Perovskite Prepared by Mechanochemical Synthesis.

Project description:We present a mechanochemical procedure, with solvent-free, green-chemistry credentials, to grow all-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite. The crystal structure of this perovskite and its correlations with the physicochemical properties have been studied. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction (SXRD) and neutron powder diffraction (NPD) allowed us to follow the crystallographic behavior from 4 to 773 K. Unreported features like the observed negative thermal expansion of the b unit-cell parameter stem from octahedral distortions in the 4-100 K temperature range. The mechanochemical synthesis was designed to reduce the impact energy during the milling process, leading to a defect-free, well-crystallized sample characterized by a minimum unit-cell volume and octahedral tilting angles in the low-temperature orthorhombic perovskite framework, defined in the Pbnm space group. The UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectrum shows a reduced band gap of 2.22(3) eV, and the photocurrent characterization in a photodetector reveals excellent properties with potential applications of this material in optoelectronic devices.

Synthesis and crystal structure of 4-fluoro-benzyl-ammonium di-hydrogen phosphate, [FC6H4CH2NH3]H2PO4.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title salt, [p-FC6H4CH2NH3]+·H2PO4-, contains one 4-fluoro-benzyl-ammonium cation and one di-hydrogen phosphate anion. In the crystal, the H2PO4- anions are linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds to build corrugated layers extending parallel to the ab plane. The FC6H4CH2NH3+ cations lie between these anionic layers to maximize the electrostatic inter-actions and are linked to the H2PO4- anions through N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network. Two hydrogen atoms belonging to the di-hydrogen phosphate anion are statistically occupied due to disorder along the OH?HO direction.

P450BM3 fused to phosphite dehydrogenase allows phosphite-driven selective oxidations.

Project description:To facilitate the wider application of the NADPH-dependent P450BM3, we fused the monooxygenase with a phosphite dehydrogenase (PTDH). The resulting monooxygenase-dehydrogenase fusion enzyme acts as a self-sufficient bifunctional catalyst, accepting phosphite as a cheap electron donor for the regeneration of NADPH.The well-expressed fusion enzyme was purified and analyzed in comparison to the parent enzymes. Using lauric acid as substrate for P450BM3, it was found that the fusion enzyme had similar substrate affinity and hydroxylation selectivity while it displayed a significantly higher activity than the non-fused monooxygenase. Phosphite-driven conversions of lauric acid at restricted NADPH concentrations confirmed multiple turnovers of the cofactor. Interestingly, both the fusion enzyme and the native P450BM3 displayed enzyme concentration dependent activity and the fused enzyme reached optimal activity at a lower enzyme concentration. This suggests that the fusion enzyme has an improved tendency to form functional oligomers.To explore the constructed phosphite-driven P450BM3 as a biocatalyst, conversions of the drug compounds omeprazole and rosiglitazone were performed. PTDH-P450BM3 driven by phosphite was found to be more efficient in terms of total turnover when compared with P450BM3 driven by NADPH. The results suggest that PTDH-P450BM3 is an attractive system for use in biocatalytic and drug metabolism studies.
