Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be the last step of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) evolution, and the main characteristic of NAFLD is alteration in lipid metabolism. However, the mechanisms of abnormal lipid metabolism in NAFLD and HCC progression are yet to be identified.
