Artificial receptors for hydrophobic molecules usually have moderate affinities and limited selectivities. We describe three new classes of high affinity hydrophobic receptors for nonaromatic steroids based on deoxyribonucleotides, obtained through five high stringency selections coupled with tailored counter-selections.
