Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is strongly associated with obesity and may progress to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and liver fibrosis. The deficit of pharmacological therapies for the latter mainly results from an incomplete understanding of involved pathological mechanisms.
