Cardiac glycosides, such as digoxin, inhibit Na<sup>+</sup>/K<sup>+</sup>-ATPases and cause secondary activation of Na<sup>+</sup>/Ca<sup>2+</sup> exchangers. Preclinical investigations have suggested that digoxin may have anticancer properties.
