West Nile Virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne infection that can cause serious illness in humans. Surveillance for WNV primarily focuses on a measure of infection prevalence in the Culex spp. mosquitos, its primary vectors, known as the Minimum Infection Rate (MIR).
