Draft Genome Sequence of Bacillus marisflavi CK-NBRI-03, Isolated from Agricultural Soil.

ABSTRACT: Here, we report the 4.34-Mb draft genome assembly of Bacillus marisflavi CK-NBRI-03 (or P3), a Gram-positive bacterium, with an average G+C content of 48.66%. P3 was isolated from agricultural soil from the Badaun (midwestern plain zone) region of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Project description:We report the draft genome sequences of two tropical bacterial isolates capable of degrading the herbicide atrazine. Alcaligenes sp. strain EGD-AK7 and Arthrobacter sp. strain AK-YN10 were isolated from Indian agricultural soil in which sugarcane is grown, with a reported history of atrazine use. EGD-AK7 has the atzABCDEF genes and AK-YN10 has the trzN and atzBC genes for atrazine degradation.

Draft genome sequence of Bacillus pumilus strain EZ-C07 isolated from digested agricultural wastes.

Project description:ObjectivesBacillus species, belonging to the family Bacillaceae, are rod-shaped aerobic or facultative anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria that can be isolated from various environmental niches. Bacillus pumilus strains are resistant to unfavorable conditions such as UV, H2O2 and chemical disinfection. Furthermore, B. pumilus strains synthesize multifarious important enzymes and can be used in the production of some fermented foods, bioremediation of wastewater systems and biodegradation of environmental contaminants. Hence, investigation at the genomic level is required to understand their ecology, genetics and potential applications.Data descriptionIn this research, we provide the genomic insights into one Bacillus species (EZ-C07) isolated from digested agricultural waste materials. The draft genome of the strain EZ-C07 consists of 3,724,869 bp with 3890 coding sequences and 41.5% G + C content. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis followed by in silico DNA-DNA hybridization studies, the strain EZ-C07 was identified as Bacillus pumilus belonging to the family Bacillaceae within the phylum Firmicutes. The whole genome shotgun project of B. pumilus strain EZ-C07 can be accessed at DDBJ/ENA/GenBank under the Accession QLVI00000000.

Draft Genome Sequence of Bacillus subtilis TLO3, Isolated from Olive Tree Rhizosphere Soil.

Project description:In this paper, we report Bacillus subtilis TLO3, which was isolated from olive tree rhizosphere and exhibits high amylolytic activity. The genome of Bacillus subtilis TLO3 contains 4,071 protein-coding sequences carried on one chromosome (4,232,155?bp) with an average G+C content of 44.1% and 119 RNA molecules. The gene encoding ?-amylase was detected, as well as other genes related to starch and cellulose hydrolysis, making the strain a potential candidate for industrial treatment of starch and lignocellulose biomasses.
