In this study, we use an optogenetic inhibitor of c-Jun NH<sub>2</sub>-terminal kinase (JNK) in dendritic spine sub-compartments of rat hippocampal neurons. We show that JNK inhibition exerts rapid (within seconds) reorganization of actin in the spine-head.
