Hypomethylation Causes MIR21 Overexpression in Tumors.

ABSTRACT: miR-21 is an oncogenic miRNA that is upregulated in many solid tumors. In this study, we show that the MIR21 DNA methylation levels were elevated in eight major types of cancer. Two CpG sites closely related to MIR21 expression. One of them is the binding site of transcription factors.
