Streptovaricin C is a naphthalenic ansamycin antibiotic structurally similar to rifamycins with potential anti-MRSA bioactivities. However, the formation mechanism of the most fascinating and bioactivity-related methylenedioxy bridge (MDB) moiety in streptovaricins is unclear.
