<i>Polynucleobacter asymbioticus</i> strain QLW-P1DMWA-1<sup>T</sup> represents a group of highly successful heterotrophic ultramicrobacteria that is frequently very abundant (up to 70% of total bacterioplankton) in freshwater habitats across all seven continents.
