Cynomolgus monkeys (Macaca fascicularis; MF) are commonly used as nonhuman primate models for pharmaceutical product testing. In their habitat range, monkeys have close contact with humans, allowing the possibility of bidirectional transmission of tuberculosis (TB) between the two species.
