The amyloid plaques are a key hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Amyloidogenesis is a complex long-lasting multiphase process starting with the formation of nuclei of amyloid peptides: a process assigned as a primary nucleation.
