The complete mitochondrial genome of Inimicus japonicus and its phylogenetic analysis.

ABSTRACT: The complete mitochondrial genome was sequenced from the marine teleost fish Inimicus japonicus. The genome sequence is 16,830 bp in size and has a base composition of A (29.25%), T (29.01%), C (20.7%), and G (21.03%). Moreover, 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) encoded 3210 amino acids in total. The phylogenetic analysis showed that I. japonicus belongs to Synancejidae family. The complete mitochondrial genome sequences provided here would be useful for further understanding the evolution and conservation genetics of I. japonicus.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence and phylogenetic analysis for Inimicus japonicus (Scorpaeniformes: Synanceiidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of the Inimicus japonicus was analyzed by next-generation sequencing in this study. The mitogenome is 16,978 base pairs (bp) long and codes for 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and 1 non-coding control region. The overall nucleotide composition of the mitogenome is: 29.61% for A, 29.16% for T, 25.26% for C, and 15.97% for G. Twenty-two tRNAs range from 67 to 74 bp in length, and 2 rRNA (12S and 16S) were 953 and 1,687 bp long, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis by neighbor-joining (NJ) method indicated that I. japonicus showed considerable genetic similarity (82%), and had a closer relationship in the phylogenetic tree to Synanceia verrucosa.

Complete mitochondrial genome of the parrotfish Calotomus japonicus (Osteichthyes: Scaridae) with implications based on the phylogenetic position.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome sequence was determined for a specimen of Calotomus japonicus, a temperate parrotfish endemic to coastal East Asia. It was compared phylogenetically with previously published partial sequences from this species and other parrotfishes. The obtained tree indicated that the three cytb sequences of C. japonicus from a recent molecular study (LC068806-8) probably resulted from introgression through intergeneric hybridization, or possibly from sample confusion. Taking the presently obtained mitogenome as representative of C. japonicus, the species most closely related to this one among congeners is C. zonarchus, which is endemic to the Hawaiian islands.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Laqueus Japonicus (Brachiopoda, Terebratulida, Laqueidae).

Project description:In this study a complete mitochondrial genome of the species, Laqueus japonicus was sequenced and analysed. The mitochondrial genome size is 14,267?bp with 20.2% A, 15.7% C, 27.1% G, and 37.0% T nucleotide distributions. This is the second complete mitochondrial genome record from the genus Laqueus and first record for the species. Genome structure and gene orientation are identical with previous record of the genus. In addition, phylogenetic relationship of L. japonicus in the subphylum Rhynchonelliformea was investigated by using protein coding genes of complete mitochondrial genome. The present study suggests that the closest species to L. japonicus is L. rubellus and they belong to the family Laqueidae.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemerobius japonicus (Neuroptera: Hemerobiidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Hemerobius japonicus Nakahara, 1915 was sequenced in this study. The complete mitochondrial genome is a typical double-stranded circular molecule of 18,585 bp (GenBank accession number: MN852445), containing 37 typical animal mitochondrial gene and an A + T-rich region. The gene order is identical to that of the putative ancestral arrangement of insects and other lacewings. 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) possessed common triplet initiation codons ATN except ND1 possessed TTG and mostly terminated with TAN codons except for ND5 and ND4 with a single T residue adjacent to a downstream tRNA gene. All of the 22 tRNAs, ranging from 63 to 72 bp, can be folded into classic clover-leaf secondary structure except for tRNASer(AGN) , in which the dihydrouridine (DHU) arm did not form a stable stem-loop structure. The control region is 1416 bp long with an A + T content of 90.3%. In the sampled families of Neuroptera, each family showed a monophyletic cluster and Polystoechotidae + Rapismatidae, Osmylidae + the remaining families, Hemerobiidae + (Chrysopidae + (Polystoechotidae + Rapismatidae)) are recovered in phylogenetic analyses with high supports.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Aspiorhynchus laticeps and its phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:The complete nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of Aspiorhynchus laticeps was determined. The length of the complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of A. laticeps is 16,591 bp, which consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a non-coding region 'D-loop'. Except for the D-loop, another non-coding region named replication origin of L-strand (OL) region was also found. According to the phylogenetic analysis, A. laticeps has a closer relationship with Schizothorax.

Complete mitochondrial genome and phylogenetic analysis of Ixodes persulcatus (taiga tick).

Project description:Ixodes persulcatus is a species of hard tick which is a predominant tick species that spreads a wide array of serious human and animal pathogens. Here, we first assemble the complete mitogenome of I. persulcatus of China. The total length of the mitogenome was 14,539 bp included 36 genes and with a mitogenome structure similar to other ticks. Phylogenetic tree was constructed based on the complete mitogenome of I. persulcatus and closely related 19 species ticks to assess their phylogenic relationship and evolution. We also analyze the differences between the mitogenomes of I. persulcatus of Japan and China. The complete mitogenome data would be useful for further study of I. persulcatus.

The genome includes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a control region (D-loop), with a total length of 16,060 bp. The overall nucleotide composition was 34.91% A, 17.29% C, 10.93% G, and 36.87% T, with 71.78% A + T. In the phylogenetic tree was constructed using maximum-likelihood and Bayesian inference analyses, C. japonicus and C. japonicus pacificus formed a genetic clade that was sister to C. opilio.

Project description:Spondylus violaceus is a species of the bivalve family Spondylidae, commonly known as thorny oyster. Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of S. violaceus. The mitochondrial genome of S. violaceus is 30,160?bp in length, which contains 12 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 19 transfer RNA genes. The overall AT content (58.31%) was higher than GC content (41.69%). This is the first record of complete mitochondrial genome in the family Spondylidae, providing the basis for future taxonomic and phylogenetic studies of this bivalve family.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genomes of Min pig (Hebao) are published in this paper. The full length of mtDNA is 16,719?bp and contained 13 PCGs, 2 rRNA and 22 tRNA, and 1D-loop(MN258706). A phylogenetic tree with the 13 protein-coding genes sequences of Min pig (Hebao) together with 45 other Chinese pig breeds and 7 foreign pig breeds was constructed. The results can be subsequently used to provide information for pig phylogenetic and insights into the evolution of genomes. The result of phylogenetic analysis showed that the genetic relationship of Min pig (Hebao) is closer to that of Dapulian pigs.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Hemiptelea davidii (Ulmaceae) and phylogenetic analysis.

Project description:Hemiptelea davidii (Hance) Planch is a potential valuable forest tree in arid sandy environments. Here, the complete mitochondrial genome of H. davidii was assembled using a combination of the PacBio Sequel data and the Illumina Hiseq data. The mitochondrial genome is 460,941?bp in length, including 37 protein-coding genes, 19 tRNA genes, and three rRNA genes. The GC content of the whole mitochondrial genome is 44.84%. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that H. davidii is close with Cannabis and Morus species.
