Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a widespread hepatic disorder in the United States and other Westernized countries. Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), an advanced stage of NAFLD, can progress to end-stage liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer.
