Innate immune memory responses (also termed "<i>trained immunity</i>") have been described in monocytes after BCG vaccination and after stimulation <i>in vitro</i> with microbial and endogenous ligands such as LPS, β-glucan, oxidized LDL, and monosodium urate crystals.
