<i>Magnolia delavayi</i>, a threatened plant endemic to Southwest China, is of great importance for landscaping because of its lotus-like creamy flowers. In this study, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of <i>M. delavayi</i> was assembled based on the Illumina sequences.
