The complete mitochondrial genome of the Gymnocypris selincuoensis (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of Gymnocypris selincuoensis was determined and analyzed. This mitochondrial genome was 16,728bp in length and consisted of 37genes in the typical vertebrate mitochondrial gene arrangement. Phylogenetic analysis showed that G. selincuoensis is more closely related to G. namensis than to other species.

Project description:The Gymnocypris chui, a new recorded species in Lange Lake, was grouped into genus Gymnocypris in Schizothoracinae, and had the rare quantity and limited resources on biology and genetics, especially in the mitochondrion. In this study, the complete mitochondrial sequence of G. chui was assembled and phylogenetic relationships with other species in Cyprinidae were analyzed. The whole mitochondrial sequence was 16,864 bp in length, which contained two control regions (D-loop regions), two rRNA genes (12S and 16S rRNA), 13 protein-coding genes and 22 tRNA genes. The D-loop region was separated by tRNAPro . The 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA located between tRNAPhe and tRNALeu and were separated by tRNAVal . The 13 mRNAs had three start codons, five termination codons and four overlap regions. The 22 tRNA scattered among the whole mitochondrion, and they were range from 66 (tRNACys ) to 76 (tRNALys andtRNALeu ) in length. To further explore the phylogenetic relationship of the G. chui, we constructed the phylogenetic tree and verified that the G. chui was a part of genus Gymnocypris and had closer relationship with Gymnocypris dobula and was independent from other species of Schizothoracinae, Barbinae and Labeoninae in Cyprinidae. This study provided the valuable evidence on phylogenetic relationship of the G. chui at the molecular level and essential resource for further research on this species.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Gymnocypris scleracanthus (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The Gymnocypris scleracanthus, a species of genus Gymnocypris belongs to Schizothoracinaein Cyprinidae. In this study, the complete mitochondrial DNA genome sequence of G. scleracanthus was determined. The 16,771 bp long circular molecule contains 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and two non-coding regions, showing a typical vertebrate pattern. These genes except ND6 and eight tRNA genes were encoded on the H-strand. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the G. scleracanthus was a part of genus Gymnocypris and had closer relationship with Gymnocypris dobula and was independent from other species of Psilorhynchus and Labeoninae in Cyprinidae.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Schizothorax davidi (Teleostei: Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:This study provides a mitochondrial complete genome of Schizothorax davidi. The complete genome is 16,576 bp in length with an A + T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Project description:Shizothorax grahami (S. grahami) is an underlying economic cold-freshwater fish in southwest China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. grahami was determined (GenBank accession number is NC_029708). The mitochondrial genome sequence of S. grahami was a circular molecule with 16,584 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.14% C, 19.93% G, 29.58% A and 25.34% T. Among most species of genus Shizothorax, Schizothorax davidi had the closest relationship with S. grahami, and then Schizothorax prenanti.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus benasi has been determined by polymerase chain reaction method for the first time. The overall base composition of N. benasi mitogenome is 31.8% for A, 27.4% for C, 15.9% for G and 25.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 41.3%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16 583 bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for N. benasi in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Leuciscus merzbacheri (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:Leuciscus merzbacheri (Zugmayer, 1912) is a cyprinid fish endemic to China, with a distribution range limited to Xinjiang Province. As a landmark species in the Junggar Basin, L. merzbacheri is of considerable significance regarding our understanding of the adaptive evolution of salt and alkali tolerance. In this study, the complete mitochondrial sequence of L. merzbacheri was obtained for the first time by high-throughput sequencing. The circular mitogenome is 16,609 bp in length and contains the standard 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding, 22 transfer RNA, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes, which is similar to that of other fish. The mitogenome contents of A, T, C, and G were 27.9, 26.3, 27.1, and 18.7%, respectively. Phylogenetically, L. merzbacheri was located on a new branch near the base of the phylogenetic tree, thereby suggesting an early origin.

The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of G. dobula was 16,728 base pairs in length and comprised 22 transfer RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes as well as one control region as in a typical vertebrate mitochondrial DNA gene. The ML and BI trees showed that G. dobula was most closely related to Gymnocypris scleracanthus within the highly specialized group. This mitogenome provides new molecular data for further taxonomic and phylogenetic studies of Schizothoracine fish.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of Schizothorax curilabiatus was determined and analyzed. This mitochondrial genome was 16,578bp in length and showed significant AT bias (55.5% AT content, 44.5% GC content). Phylogenetic analysis showed that S. curilabiatus is more closely related to S. oconnori than to other species. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence provides an important dataset for the exploration of mitochondrial inheritance mechanism.
