The complete mitochondrial genome of the Pink dentex Dentex gibbosus (Perciformes: Sparidae).

ABSTRACT: The Pink dentex (Dentex gibbosus, Rafinesque 1810) is one of the most commercially important Sparidae species and it is often subjected to fraud. Here, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of D. gibbosus. The mitogenome is 16,771?bp in length and contained 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and 2 non-coding regions. The overall base composition of D. gibbosus mtDNA is: 27.8% for A, 28.60% for C, 16.5% for G, 27.05% for T.

Project description:The common Dentex (Dentex dentex, Linnaeus 1758) has a significant economic importance and is a highly valued table fish in the Mediterranean region. The paucity of genetic information relating to sparids, despite their growing economic value, provides the impetus for exploring the mitogenomics of this fish group. Here, we sequenced D. dentex complete mitochondrial genome. The sequence is comprised of 16,652?bp and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and a 2 non-coding regions (D-loop and L-origin). The overall nucleotide composition is: 27.5% of A, 28.7% of C, 26.9% of T, and 16.9% of G.

Complete mitochondrial genome of yellowback seabream, Dentex hypselosomus and phylogenetic analysis of the family Sparidae.

Project description:The complete mitogenome sequence of Dentex hypselosomus was amplified by designing 15 primer pairs. The circle genome was 16,618 bp in size and the overall base composition was 27.04% of A, 26.38% of T, 17.08% of G, and 29.50 of C, with significant anti-G bias. The complete mitogenome of D. hypselosomus encodes 37 canonical mitochondrial genes, two non-coding regions, an L-strand replication region (OL), and a control region (D-loop). The D-loop contained termination sequence domain (TAS), central conserved domains (CSB-F, CSB-E, CSB-D, CSB-C, and CSB-A), and conserved sequence blocks (CSB-1, CSB-2, and CSB-3). Phylogenetic analysis of nine sparid species well supported the phylogenetic position of D. hypselosomus and revealed the phylogenetic relationship of the family Sparidae at the level of mitochondrial genomes.

The sequence is composed of 16,638 base pairs, accounting for 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions (D-loop and L-origin). The overall nucleotide composition is: 27.4% A, 28.9% C, 26.9% T, and 16.8% G. Maximum likelihood analyses placed D. puntazzo close to Acanthopagrus and some Pagellus species.

The mitochondrial genome is 16,798 bp long and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and a control region. The gene order and composition of A. schlegelii mitochondrial genome was similar to that of most other vertebrates. The nucleotide compositions of the light strand in descending order is 28.04% of T, 27.94% of G, 27.87% of A and 16.15% of C. With the exception of the NADH dehydrogenase subunit 6 (ND6) and 8 tRNA genes, all other mitochondrial genes are encoded on the heavy strand. The phylogenetic analysis by maximum-likelihood method shown that he A. schlegelii has the closer relationship to the Rhabdosargus sarba in the phylogenetic relationship.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Acanthopagrus pacificus (Perciformes, Sparidae) from Iriomotejima Island, Okinawa, Japan.

Project description:The Pacific seabream, Acanthopagrus pacificus, is a commercially valuable resource for fisheries around the West Pacific Ocean countries. Although the phylogenetic position of the A. pacificus within the genus Acanthopagrus changes by the differences in the target gene regions or fish sampling locations, the genetic information of the species is quite limited. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of A. pacificus from Iriomotejima Island, Okinawa, Japan was determined. The sequence is 16,640 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA genes (12S rRNA and 16S rRNA), 22 tRNA genes, and one control region. A reconstructed phylogenetic tree showed that A. pacificus has the furthest relationship to other Acanthopagrus species in the genus.

Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Pseudocaranx dentex (Carangidae, Perciformes) Provides Insight into Phylogenetic and Evolutionary Relationship among Carangidae Family.

Project description:Pseudocaranx dentex (white trevally) which belongs to the Carangidae family, is an important commercial fishery and aquaculture resource in Asia. However, its evolution and population genetics have received little attention which was limited by the mitogenome information absence. Here, we sequenced and annotated the complete mitochondrial genome of P. dentex which was 16,569 bp in length, containing twenty-two tRNAs (transfer RNAs), thirteen PCGs (protein-coding genes), two rRNAs (ribosomal RNAs), and one non-coding region with conservative gene arrangement. The Ka/Ks ratio analysis among Carangidae fishes indicated the PCGs were suffering purify selection and the values were related to the taxonomic status and further influenced by their living habits. Phylogenetic analysis based on the PCGs sequences of mitogenomes among 36 species presented three major clades in Carangidae. According to the phylogenetic tree, we further analyzed the taxonomic confusion of Carangoides equula which was on the same branch with P. dentex but a different branch with Carangoides spp. We inferred Kaiwarinus equula should be the accepted name and belong to the independent Kaiwarinus genus which was the sister genus of Pseudocaranx. This work provides mitochondrial genetic information and verifies the taxonomic status of P. dentex, and further helps to recognize the phylogenetic relationship and evolutionary history of Carangidae.

Herein, we present the first complete sequence and annotation of the mitochondrial genome of this species. The D. sargus mitogenome is 16,515 base pairs in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNA, 22 tRNA, and 2 non-coding regions (D-loop and L-origin). The overall nucleotide composition is: 27.3% A, 28.9% C, 26.8% T, and 17.0% G. Maximum likelihood analyses placed D. sargus as a sister species of Diplodus puntazzo. This study provides valuable information for further studying identification methods and evolutionary relationships of Sparidae species.

Project description:Notostomus gibbosus is a deep-sea shrimp, belonging to Caridea, Acanthephyridae. The whole complete mitochondrial genome of N. gibbosus was 17,956 bp in length, with 37 genes, containing 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, and 2 rRNAs. The GC content of N. gibbosus was 39.43%. The genomic structure and gene arrangement were identical to those of Caridea species. The phylogenetic analysis of 13 protein-coding genes showed a close relationship to the genera Acanthephyra.
