The complete mitogenome and phylogenetic analysis of Acrossocheilus beijiangensis (osteichthyes: Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: Acorssocheilus beijiangensis is an endemic south China stream-dwelling cyprinid species. Its complete mitochondrial genome is 16,596?bp in length, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes (ranging from 67?bp in tRNA^Cys to 76?bp in tRNA^Leu and tRNA^Lys ), two rRNA genes (959?bp in 12S rRNA and 1683?bp in 16S rRNA), and one control region (937?bp). Its overall base composition is A: 31.1%, C: 27.9%, G: 16.2%, and T: 124.8%. The complete mitogenome of the Chinese barred species of Cyprinidae could provide a basic data for further phylogenetics analysis.

Phylogenetic analysis showed that A. yunnanensis was clustered with A. monticola.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Acrossocheilus yunnanensis was determined in this study. It contained 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA, 2 rRNAs, and a control region with the base composition 31.47% A, 27.83% C, 24.65% T, and 16.05% G. Here we compared this newly determined mitogenome with another one from the same species reported before. The variable sites and the genetic distances between the two mitogenomes were 134?bp and 0.8%. Sixty-five variable sites occurred in the PCGs. The results from the phylogenetic analysis showed that the genus Acrossocheilus is not a monophyletic group and Acrossocheilus yunnanensis demonstrates a close relationship with Acrossocheilus monticola.

The phylogenetic analysis of Acrossocheilus paradoxus among the acrossocheilus base on complete mitochondrial DNA sequence.

Project description:In our research, we used 17 sets of primers to amplify the complete mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of Acrossocheilus paradoxus. The total length of the mitochondrial genome is 16 597 bp and deposited in the GenBank with accession numbers KT751364. The gene arrangement and transcriptional direction were similar to other bony fishes which contained 37 genes (13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA and 22 transfer RNAs) and a major non-coding control region. Most genes were encoded on the H-strand, except for the ND6 and 8 tRNA genes, encoding on the L-strand. The nucleotide skewness for the coding strands of A. Paradoxus (GC-skew= -0.24, AT-skew = 0.07) is biased toward A and C. The negative GC-skew ranges from -0.35(ND6) to -0.21(CO1) and the AT-skew showed more positive varying from -0.23(ND4L) to 0.42(ND6). The phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that Acrossocheilus clustal together as one group.

Project description:The Korean oily shinner (Sarcocheilichthys nigripinnis morii) is a subspecies belonging to the subfamily Gobioninae in the family Cyprinidae and is endemic to Korea. Herein, we report the first sequencing and assembly of the complete mitochondrial genome of S. nigripinnis morii. The complete mitochondrial genome is 16,679 bp long, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a control region. It has the typical vertebrate mitochondrial gene arrangement. Phylogenetic analysis using mitogenomes of 16 species showed that S. nigripinnis morii was clustered with S. nigripinnis and S. variegatus microoculus and grouped with the other Cyprinidae species.

Project description:Paratanakia chii is a bitterling fish of the genus Paratanakia, subfamily Acheilognathinae and family Cyprinidae. The mitochondrial DNA sequence of P. chii is reported in this paper. The complete mitochondrial genome of P. chii is 16,575 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 1 displacement loop (D-loop). The genome sequence is consistent with those of most other carp. The majority of PCGs have AT- (Met) start codons and TA- end codons. The A + T contents of the genome, PCGs, transfer RNAs (tRNAs), and ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs) are 56.92%, 58.07%, 56.34%, and 54.21%, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis showed that P. chii is most closely related to Tanankia himantegus. These data will benefit relative ecological and phylogenetic studies.

Complete mitogenome sequence of Rasbora argyrotaenia (Actinopterygii: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The mitochondrial genome of a small freshwater fish Rasbora argyrotaenia from Java Island, Indonesia, was completely sequenced. This mitochondrial genome had 16,740 bp in length and consisted of 37 genes in the typical vertebrate mitochondrial gene arrangement. Phylogenetic analysis showed that R. argyrotaenia is more closely related to R. borapetensis than to other Javanese rasboras, R. aprotaenia and R. lateristriata.

The Nothoaspis amazoniensis Complete Mitogenome: A Comparative and Phylogenetic Analysis.

Project description:The molecular biology era, together with morphology, molecular phylogenetics, bioinformatics, and high-throughput sequencing technologies, improved the taxonomic identification of Argasidae family members, especially when considering specimens at different development stages, which remains a great difficulty for acarologists. These tools could provide important data and insights on the history and evolutionary relationships of argasids. To better understand these relationships, we sequenced and assembled the first complete mitochondrial genome of Nothoaspis amazoniensis. We used phylogenomics to identify the evolutionary history of this species of tick, comparing the data obtained with 26 complete mitochondrial sequences available in biological databases. The results demonstrated the absence of genetic rearrangements, high similarity and identity, and a close organizational link between the mitogenomes of N. amazoniensis and other argasids analyzed. In addition, the mitogenome had a monophyletic cladistic taxonomic arrangement, encompassed by representatives of the Afrotropical and Neotropical regions, with specific parasitism in bats, which may be indicative of an evolutionary process of cospeciation between vectors and the host.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Metopograpsus quadridentatus was determined to be 15,520 bp in length. It consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs and a control region. There are 13 overlapping regions in the genome with 1 to 25 bp length. The largest overlapping region is located between nad1 and trnL1. The AT-skew and GC-skew for the whole mitogenome are both negative, indicating a higher occurrence of Ts than As and Cs than Gs. The molecular data here we presented could play a useful role to study the evolutionary relationships and population genetics of Grapsidae crabs.

Project description:In this study, we firstly sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of Schizopygopsis stoliczkai (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae) from the Yarkand River, Xinjiang, China. The mitogenome is 16,833?bp in length, composed of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 2 non-coding regions (origin of light-strand replication and control region). The gene content and order is in accord with the common vertebrate form. The nucleotide base composition of H-strand is 28.4% A, 27.0% T, 26.1% C, and 18.5% G. The phylogenetic analysis based on the complete mitochondrial sequences showed that S. stoliczkai was clustered into Schizopygopsis clade.
