Magnoliaceae are both economically and ornamentally important trees. Despite extensive studies in this family, the taxonomy of <i>Michelia</i> L. remains unclear, as well as the taxonomical status of <i>Michelia alba</i>. Herein, we report the complete chloroplast genome of <i>M. alba</i> DC.
