The complete mitochondrial genome of Jinbian carp Cyprinus carpio (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: Jinbian carp (Cyprinus carpio) is an endemic species in China. The complete mitochondrial genome of Jinbian carp is determined to be 16,581?bp in length and includes 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a control region. Its structural organization and gene order are equivalent to other common carp strains. The phylogenetic analyses will contribute to further insights of the taxonomy and phylogeny in Cyprinidae family.

Project description:Rice flower carp (Cyprinus carpio rubrofuscus) is a subspecies of Cyprinus carpio distributed in South China. In this study, we sequenced the mitochondrial genome of C. carpio rubrofuscus using Illumina HiSeq. The complete mitochondrial genome of C. carpio rubrofuscus was 16,582 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and two ribosomal RNA genes. The contents of the four bases in the mitochondrial DNA were A (31.89%), T (24.82%), C (27.53%), and G (15.76%). Phylogenetic analysis showed that C. carpio rubrofuscus was clustered with Cyprinus carpio and its varieties.

Ion Torrent next-generation sequencing reveals the complete mitochondrial genome of koi carp (Cyprinus carpio, Cyprinidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of the koi carp (Cyprinus carpio, Cyprinidae) was sequenced in the present study by using Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine (PGM) platform for the first time. The mitochondrial genome sequence is 16?581?bp in size and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes and one control region. The gene order and organization were similar to most of the other teleost. The nucleotide compositions of the light strand are 24.82% of A, 31.92% of T, 27.53% of G and 15.73% of C. With the exception of eight tRNA genes and the NADH dehydrogenase subunit 6 (ND6), all other mitochondrial genes are encoded on the heavy strand. The phylogenetic tree constructed using a maximum-likelihood model showed sister relationship of koi carp to other Cyprinidae fishes.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Songpu mirror carp, Cyprinus carpio.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome sequences of Cyprinus carpio (strain Songpu) were reported for the first time. The genome is found to be 16 582?bp in length accurately using the next-generation sequencing technology and bioinformatics tools, and it has a base composition of A (31.9%), G (15.7%), C (27.5%) and T (24.9%), indicating that the percentage of A?+?T (56.8%) was higher than G?+?C (43.2%). The whole genome contains a typically conserved structure, which includes 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes and one control region (D-loop). To obtain the phylogenetic relationship between Songpu mirror carp and other species, 11 mitochondrial genomes were used for phylogenetic analysis. The result shows the Songpu mirror carp is closely related to Cyprinu carpio carpio that is also a member of the genus Cyprinu.

Project description:This study provides a mitochondrial complete genome of Schizothorax davidi. The complete genome is 16,576?bp in length with an A?+?T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of the hybrid of Cyprinus carpio L. mirror (?)×?Cyprinus Carpio var. singuonensis (?) was characterized first in this study. The total length of the genome was identical to the female parent as 16,581?bp, and the overall base composition was 31.80% A, 24.85% T, 27.55% C and 15.80% G, with a slight A?+?T bias. It contained 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and 2 main non-coding regions (the control region and the origin of the light-strand replication). This study discovered the 99.70% sequence identity between the hybrid and its female parent, which confirmed the maternal inheritance pattern followed by the mitochondrial genome of the hybrid. However, the sequence alignment of mitochondrial genomes between the hybrid and its female parent revealed a total of 47 variable sites in 15 genes or regions, especially 25 sense mutations in 6 PCGs. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of the hybrid Cyprinus capio Furong may provide an important dataset for further study in mitochondrial inheritance mechanism.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus benasi has been determined by polymerase chain reaction method for the first time. The overall base composition of N. benasi mitogenome is 31.8% for A, 27.4% for C, 15.9% for G and 25.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 41.3%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16 583 bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for N. benasi in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.
