Complete Genome Sequences of Two Human Adenovirus Type 55 Isolates from South Korea and the United States.

ABSTRACT: Here, we report two complete genome sequences of human adenovirus 55 (HAdV-55) isolates, from a patient in Pennsylvania in 2006 and a U.S. military member in South Korea in 2019. The findings demonstrate the continued global transmission of HAdV-55 viruses in both military and civilian populations.

Project description:The complete genome sequences of pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV)-P2 and -P3 were determined by the Sanger sequencing method. Although PMMoV-P2 and PMMoV-P3 have different pathogenicity in some pepper cultivars, the complete genome sequences of PMMoV-P2 and -P3 are composed of 6,356 nucleotides (nt). In this study, we report the complete genome sequences and genome organization of PMMoV-P2 and -P3 isolates from pepper species in South Korea.

Project description:An outbreak of febrile respiratory illness associated with human adenovirus (HAdV) occurred in the South Korea military during the 2014-15 influenza season and thereafter. Molecular typing and phylogenetic analysis of patient samples identified HAdV type 55 as the causative agent. Emergence of this novel HAdV necessitates continued surveillance in military and civilian populations.

Project description:There is a paucity of complete genome sequence information for human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV). To this end, we sequenced the complete genome sequences of HRSV genotype A (HRSV-A/IC688/12) and genotype B (HRSV-B/GW0047/14 and HRSV-B/IC0027/14). This information will increase the understanding of HRSV genetic diversity, evolution, pathogenicity, antigenicity, and transmissibility.
