The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Anemone reflexa (Ranunculaceae).

ABSTRACT: The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Anemone reflexa exhibited a typical quadripartite structure with two inverted repeats (IRa and IRb) of 31,260 bp, a large single-copy region (LSC) of 80,767 bp, and a small single-copy region (SSC) of 17,623 bp. The chloroplast genome encoded a set of 133 genes, comprised of 89 protein coding genes, 36 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that A. reflexa was closely related to A. raddeana. The complete chloroplast genome sequence of A. reflexa will provide valuable genetic resources for molecular identification and phylogenetic analysis of Anemone.

The complete chloroplast genome of a medicinal plant Anemone flaccida (Ranunculaceae).

Project description:Anemone flaccida has long-term been used in Chinese traditional medicine with the effects of anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial properties, and immune regulation. However, the genomic information of this species is limited, which hinders its further medicinal application. In the present study, the complete chloroplast genome of A. flaccida was sequenced and assembled. The genome size was 157,614 bp in length, consisting of a pair of inverted repeat regions (IR, 31,184 bp), a large single copy (LSC, 79,055 bp), and a small single copy (SSC, 16,191 bp). A total of 138 genes were annotated, including 90 protein-coding genes, 40 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The GC content of the genome was 37.74%. A phylogenetic analysis on the basis of the whole chloroplast genome sequences further suggested a close relationship between A. flaccida, A. narcissiflora, and A. trullifolia. Collectively, the A. flaccida chloroplast genome provided new genomic resources which will improve its research and application in the future.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Aconitum tschangbaischanense (Ranunculaceae).

Project description:The perennial herbal medicine species Aconitum tschangbaischanense, is endemic to Changhai Mountain, Jilin province. In this study, we attempted to uncover the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of A. tschangbaischanense based on sequencing data using the Illumina sequencing technology. As per the results: (1) the length of its complete cp genome is 155,881 bp with a typical tetrad structure; (2) the structure of its cp genome contains large single-copy and small single-copy (LSC and SSC) regions of 86,351 and 16,9444 bp, respectively, isolated by two inverted repeat regions (IRs) of 26,293 bp; (3) we annotated a total 131 genes, consisting of 86 protein-coding genes, eight rRNA genes, and 37 tRNA genes. According to the maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree based on complete cp genomes, A. tschangbaischanense, showed close association with A. carmichaelii, which belongs to clade I. Finally, this study provides the characteristics of the cp genome of A. tschangbaischanense, and its phylogenetic position.

Project description:Eranthis stellate belong to Ranunculaceae, which is interest in phylogenetic research because it has often been considered one of the most basal eudicots families. However, there are few chloroplastg enome data of Ranunculaceae available. Here, to provide available genomic data for the phylogenetic of Ranunculaceae, we determined the complete chloroplast genome of E. stellate. The complete chloroplast sequence is 158,817 bp, including a large single-copy (LSC) region of 87,137 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 16,834 bp, a pair of invert repeats (IR) regions of 27,424 bp. Plastid genome contain129 genes, 84 protein-coding genes, 36 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis based on 14 chloroplast genomes indicates that E. stellata is sister to Aconitum austrokoreense clade in Ranunculaceae.

Project description:Thalictrum viscosum W.T.Wang & S.H.Wang, 1979 is a flowering plant species in family Ranunculaceae that is endemic to Yunnan province of China. To facilitate genetic study of T. viscosum, we de novo assembled and annotated the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of T. viscosum for the first time. The total length of the cp genome of T. viscosum was 155,984 bp, with a GC content of 38.4%. The T. viscosum cp genome had a typical quadripartite structure with a large single-copy region of 85,339 bp, a small single-copy region of 17,656 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat regions of 26,495 bp. The cp genome consisted of 133 genes, including 87 protein-coding genes, 38 transfer RNA genes, and eight ribosomal RNA genes. We performed phylogenetic analysis of T. viscosum with the maximum-likelihood phylogenetic tree and indicated that T. viscosum was closely related to T. cirrhosum and T. foeniculaceum.

The complete chloroplast genomes of Trollius farreri and Anemone taipaiensis (Ranunculaceae).

Project description:Ranunculaceae, with high morphological biodiversity and widely ecological amplitude tolerance, has been considered as a new good model for adaptive evolution study. In this study, two high-quality chloroplast genomes of Ranunculaceae were determined by next-generation sequencing technologies. The plastomes of Trollius farreri and Anemone taipaiensis exhibit a conserved quadripartite structure, with 160,612 bp and 160,214 bp in length, presenting similar GC contents (38% and 37.6%). The chloroplast genome of Trollius farreri contains 131 genes, including 87 protein-coding genes, 8 rRNA, and 36 tRNA genes, while the plastome of Anemone taipaiensis harbours 137 genes, including 93 protein-coding genes, 8 rRNA, and 36 tRNA genes. Phylogenetic tree constructed with 21 plastomes of Ranunculaceae species indicates that Trollius farreri and Anemone taipaiensis are closely related to their congeneric species, respectively. The phylogenetic relationships are inconsistent with the current classification of Ranunculaceae.

Project description:Thalictrum aquilegiifolium (Ranunculaceae) is widely distributed in the Eurasian Continent and Japan and comprises some intraspecific taxa. We report here the complete chloroplast genome of T. aquilegiifolium var. sibiricum. The plastome of T. aquilegiifolium var. sibiricum is 156,074 bp in length, containing large (85,457 bp) and small (17,642 bp) single-copy regions which are separated by a pair of inverted repeats (26,487 bp each). The genome consists of 119 genes, including 88 protein-coding, four ribosomal RNA genes, and 27 transfer RNA genes. Our phylogenetic analysis revealed that Thalictrum species formed a highly supported clade, indicating that these species are monophyletic.

The complete chloroplast genome of Ranunculus yunnanensis (Ranunculaceae).

Project description:Ranunculus yunnanensis Franch is endemic in Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces, southwestern China. Here, we report the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of R. yunnanensis. The chloroplast genome is 156,050 bp in length, with 111 encoded genes, including 78 protein-coding genes, 29 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. Maximum-likelihood phylogenetic reconstruction using the existing data of Ranunculus shows that R. yunnanensis is revealed at the basal position of the marsh buttercup clade. This result has improved a better understanding of the internal relationship of the Ranunculus.
