The complete mitochondrial genome of Arhopalus unicolor (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

ABSTRACT: In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Arhopalus unicolor was first sequenced. The length of the complete mitochondria genome of A. unicolor was 15,760 bp with 19.0% GC content, including 40.5% A, 10.8% C, 8.2% G and 40.5% T. There were 13 protein-coding genes (CDS), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA), and an AT-rich region. Phylogenetic analysis showed that A. unicolor was closely related to Spondylis buprestoides. This study provides useful genetic information for subsequent prevention of A. unicolor.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial DNA genome of the Oberea diversipes was reported. The genome was a circular molecule of 15,499 base pairs (bp), with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and an estimated 830 bp A + T-rich control region. The total base composition of the mitogenome was A-T bias, with 40.9% for A, 37.0% for T, 13.4% for C, and 8.7% for G. The molecular data presented here would be useful for further study of O. diversipes.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Spondylis buprestoides (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

Project description:Spondylis buprestoides is a major boring pest of Cerambycidae, which mainly damaging conifers and also can carry pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. buprestoides was determined by Illumina sequencing technology. The whole mitogenome was 15,837 bp in length with 20.05% GC content, which contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs). Phylogenetic analysis showed that S. buprestoides was closely related to Lepturinae. The sequence data of S. buprestoides could provide useful genetic information for the studies on phylogenetic and evolutionary of Cerambycidae.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Anoplistes halodendri (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

Project description:In this study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of Anoplistes halodendri, which covers a total of 15,697 bp in length with 28.27% GC content. The complete mitochondrial genome is composed of 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs) and also contains 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs) and two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs). Phylogenetic analysis of the A. halodendri with other 21 different species of Cerambycidae indicated that A. halodendri formed an isolated clade and belong to Cerambycinae. The results will be helpful to study the evolutionary relationship among the subfamilies of Cerambycidae.

There were 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, and one AT-rich region. This study provides a useful genetic information for subsequent study of the differences between M. alternatus subspecies.

Project description:Agelasta perplexa Pascoe is a mulberry borer that threatens the health of the plant. This study revealed the length of the complete mitochondrial genome of A. perplexa which consists of 15,552 bp length with 39.8% A, 12.8% C, 8.4% G, and 39.1% T, respectively. The GC content of whole mitochondrial genome is 21.1%. The complete mitochondrial genome encodes 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one AT-rich region. This study can facilitate further research about genetic evolution as well as prevention and control strategy of A. perplexa.

Project description:In this study, we sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome of Monochamus dubius Gahan 1894. The results showed that the length of complete mitochondrial genome was 16,029 bp with 22.22% GC content, containing 39.4% A, 38.4% T, 13.4% C, 8.8% G. There were 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNA), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA) and one AT-rich region. Phylogenetic analysis showed that M. dubius was clustered with Monochamus urussovii and Monochamus alternatus alternatus, and confirmed the sister relationship among the genus Monochamus, Anoplophora, and Aristobia from Cerambycidae. The complete mitogenome of M. dubius would help understand the classification and phylogeny of Chrysomeloidea.

Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Purpuricenus temminckii (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Purpuricenus temminckii (GenBank accession number MN527358) is 15,689?bp in length, and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and a putative control region. The overall base composition is A (39.56%), C (17.52%), G (10.90%), and T (32.02%), with a high AT bias of 71.58%. All tRNAs have the typical cloverleaf structure except for trnS1 and the length of them range from 62 to 71?bp. Phylogenetic tree showed that P. temminckii was clustered with three Cerambycidae species, which agree with the traditional classification.

The complete mitochondrial genomes of five longicorn beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) and phylogenetic relationships within Cerambycidae.

Project description:Cerambycidae is one of the most diversified groups within Coleoptera and includes nearly 35,000 known species. The relationships at the subfamily level within Cerambycidae have not been convincingly demonstrated and the gene rearrangement of mitochondrial genomes in Cerambycidae remains unclear due to the low numbers of sequenced mitogenomes. In the present study, we determined five complete mitogenomes of Cerambycidae and investigated the phylogenetic relationship among the subfamilies of Cerambycidae based on mitogenomes. The mitogenomic arrangement of all five species was identical to the ancestral Cerambycidae type without gene rearrangement. Remarkably, however, two large intergenic spacers were detected in the mitogenome of Pterolophia sp. ZJY-2019. The origins of these intergenic spacers could be explained by the slipped-strand mispairing and duplication/random loss models. A conserved motif was found between trnS2 and nad1 gene, which was proposed to be a binding site of a transcription termination peptide. Also, tandem repeat units were identified in the A + T-rich region of all five mitogenomes. The monophyly of Lamiinae and Prioninae was strongly supported by both MrBayes and RAxML analyses based on nucleotide datasets, whereas the Cerambycinae and Lepturinae were recovered as non-monophyletic.

The nucleotide composition of the G. cantor mitogenome was A: 39.4%, T: 37.7%, G: 8.9%, C: 14.0%. The A?+?T content is 77.1%, showing strong AT skew. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that G. cantor have sister relationship with Thyestilla gebleri.
