Genes annotated as <i>ygfE</i> and <i>yiiU</i> in the genome of <i>Salmonella enterica</i> serovar Typhimurium encode proteins homologous to <i>Escherichia coli</i> cell division factors ZapA and ZapB, respectively. ZapA<sup>-</sup> and ZapB<sup>-</sup> mutants of <i>S. enterica</i> are bile-sensitive.
