The complete mitochondrial genome of Trematomus loennbergii (Perciformes, Nototheniidae).

ABSTRACT: The complete mitochondrial genome of Trematomus loennbergii was studied using NGS technology with PacBio platform. The mitochondrial genome size was 19,374bp and it had 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs and 2 rRNAs. There were 4 types of stop codons which were TAA, TAG, AGG and T(AA) but start codon type was only one (ATG). The contents of GC were 44.09% and AT contents were 55.91%. To conduct phylogenetic analysis, 12 species in 3 families were used. The result suggested that T. loennbergii was close to Pagothenia borchgrevinki in Nototheniidae. This study would provide a fundamental data for molecular evolution of T. loennbergii.

The complete mitochondrial genome sequence and gene organization of Trematomus bernacchii (Perciformes: Nototheniidae) with phylogenetic consideration.

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial DNA sequence was obtained from Trematomus bernacchii. The full length of mitogenome was 16 018 bp, including 20 transfer RNA genes, a 16S ribosomal RNA genes and an incomplete 12S rRNA, 12 protein-coding genes and an incomplete ND6 protein-coding gene, and 2 non-coding regions: control region (D-loop) and origin of light-strand (L-strand) replication (OL). Most genes were located on the heavy-strand (H-strand), while ND6 and seven tRNA genes were located on the L-strand. T. bernacchii's mitogenome was comprised of 24.52% for A, 25.44% for C, 20.38% for G and 29.66% for T, with a higher A + T content (54.18%). From the NJ phylogenetic tree, it revealed that T. bernacchii's was genetically closest to species Dissostichus eleginoides among seven species within suborder Notothenioidei. This study could lay the foundation for the future studies in species identification, taxonomic status, molecular systematics, stock evaluation and conservation genetics for T. bernacchii's.

Project description:Antarctic icefish Pagothenia borchgrevinki is an ideal model for studying heat stress mechanisms. The complete mitochondrial genome of P. borchgrevinki was sequenced in this study. The genome sequence is 17,299?bp in length, which comprises 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs and a control region. The overall base composition is 20.45% G, 25.11% A, 29.46% T and 24.98 C%, with an A:T content of 54.57%.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Notothenia rossii was obtained using PacBio Sequel long-read sequencing platform. The mitogenome of N. rossii was circular form and 18,274 bp long, which consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 24 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, and non-coding control region. Particularly, we found duplicated tRNAThr and tRNAPro in addition to the typical 22 tRNAs. The phylogenetic tree revealed that N. rossii was most closely related to N. coriiceps among species in the Nototheniidae clade within the suborder Notothenioidei.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Lycodes tanakae was sequenced for the first time from its muscle tissue using the next-generation sequencing method. Project description:Cheilinus oxycephalus is a marine fish species, belonging to the family Labridae and naturally distributed in Indo-Pacific waters. We obtained the first complete mitochondrial genome of this species using next-generation sequencing technology. This genome is 17,698?bp, and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 2 rRNAs, 22 tRNAs, and a D-loop region. These genes are mostly encoded on the heavy strand except for ND6 and eight tRNA genes. The AT content is 52.32%. These characteristics are similar to other bony fish. This mitochondrial genome would be used as a resource for phylogenetic reconstruction.

Project description:The complete mitochondrial genome of Acanthogobius stigmothonus is first sequenced in this study. This genome was 16,666 bp in size and contained 37 classic genes, including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and two ribosomal RNA genes. The gene organization and nucleotide composition were the same with those found in most other Gobiidae fishes. Among 37 genes, 28 were encoded by the heavy strand, while nine were encoded by the light strand. The total nucleotide composition of this genome was 27.4% for adenine (A), 17.6% for guanine (G), 28.2% for cytosine (C), and 26.8% for thymine (T), with a high A + T content of 54.2%. This study will provide a better understanding of population genetic diversity of A. stigmothonus and offer useful information for future studies concerning Gobiidae mitogenome evolution.
