Prdm12 is a key transcription factor in nociceptor neurogenesis. Mutations of Prdm12 cause congenital insensitivity to pain (CIP) from failure of nociceptor development. However, precisely how deletion of Prdm12 during development or adulthood affects nociception is unknown.
