The complete mitochondrial genomes of Gobiobotia meridionalis (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

ABSTRACT: In this study, we sequenced the complete mitogenome of Gobiobotia meridionalis (Chen et Tsao, 1982). The genome is 16,609 base pair (bp) in length, encoding 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and 1 non-coding control region (D-loop). The nucleotide composition is A: 30.34%, T: 26.88%, G: 16.49%, and C: 26.29% (AT content: 55.22%). The complete mitogenome of G. meridionalis provides essential and important DNA molecular data for the genetic diversity conservation of this species.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Leuciscus merzbacheri (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae)

Project description:Abstract Leuciscus merzbacheri (Zugmayer, 1912) is a cyprinid fish endemic to China, with a distribution range limited to Xinjiang Province. As a landmark species in the Junggar Basin, L. merzbacheri is of considerable significance regarding our understanding of the adaptive evolution of salt and alkali tolerance. In this study, the complete mitochondrial sequence of L. merzbacheri was obtained for the first time by high-throughput sequencing. The circular mitogenome is 16,609 bp in length and contains the standard 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding, 22 transfer RNA, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes, which is similar to that of other fish. The mitogenome contents of A, T, C, and G were 27.9, 26.3, 27.1, and 18.7%, respectively. Phylogenetically, L. merzbacheri was located on a new branch near the base of the phylogenetic tree, thereby suggesting an early origin.

Complete mitochondrial genome of Schizothorax davidi (Teleostei: Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:This study provides a mitochondrial complete genome of Schizothorax davidi. The complete genome is 16,576 bp in length with an A + T content of 54.9%, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, and 2 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis indicated that S. davidi is closely related to Schizothorax lissolabiatus. These results contribute to explore the adaptation strategy of S. davidi on the conditions of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus benasi (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Neolissochilus benasi has been determined by polymerase chain reaction method for the first time. The overall base composition of N. benasi mitogenome is 31.8% for A, 27.4% for C, 15.9% for G and 25.0% for T. The percentage of G + C content is 41.3%. The mitogenome is a circular DNA molecule of 16 583 bp in length with a D-loop region and contains 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes and 13 protein-coding genes. The mitochondrial genome sequencing for N. benasi in this study provides important molecular data for further evolutionary analysis for Cyprinoidea.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Ancherythroculter kurematsui (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:Ancherythroculter kurematsui (A. kurematsui) is a unique small-size freshwater fish in southwest China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of A. kurematsui was determined (GenBank accession number is KU234534). The mitochondrial genome sequence of A. kurematsui was a circular molecule with 16,621 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.69% C, 16.16% G, 31.21% A and 24.93% T, with an A + T and G + C contents being 56.14% and 43.86%, respectively.

The mitochondrial genome sequence of S. grahami was a circular molecule with 16,584 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.14% C, 19.93% G, 29.58% A and 25.34% T. Among most species of genus Shizothorax, Schizothorax davidi had the closest relationship with S. grahami, and then Schizothorax prenanti.

Complete mitochondrial genome of a cavefish Sinocyclocheilus ronganensis (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:In this study, we report the complete mitochondrial genome of Sinocyclocheilus ronganensis. The whole mitochondrial genome is 16,587?bp with an accession number KX778473, and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNAs, 22 transfer RNAs genes, and a 936?bp control region. Phylogenetic analysis shows that S. ronganensis is close to cave-restricted S. anophthalmus and surface-dwelling S. grahami. The complete mitogenome of S. ronganensis may provide useful information for studying the genetic mechanism of cavefish, and enrich the fish mitochondrial genome resource for further research.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Gymnocypris chui (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The Gymnocypris chui, a new recorded species in Lange Lake, was grouped into genus Gymnocypris in Schizothoracinae, and had the rare quantity and limited resources on biology and genetics, especially in the mitochondrion. In this study, the complete mitochondrial sequence of G. chui was assembled and phylogenetic relationships with other species in Cyprinidae were analyzed. The whole mitochondrial sequence was 16,864?bp in length, which contained two control regions (D-loop regions), two rRNA genes (12S and 16S rRNA), 13 protein-coding genes and 22 tRNA genes. The D-loop region was separated by tRNAPro . The 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA located between tRNAPhe and tRNALeu and were separated by tRNAVal . The 13 mRNAs had three start codons, five termination codons and four overlap regions. The 22 tRNA scattered among the whole mitochondrion, and they were range from 66 (tRNACys ) to 76 (tRNALys andtRNALeu ) in length. To further explore the phylogenetic relationship of the G. chui, we constructed the phylogenetic tree and verified that the G. chui was a part of genus Gymnocypris and had closer relationship with Gymnocypris dobula and was independent from other species of Schizothoracinae, Barbinae and Labeoninae in Cyprinidae. This study provided the valuable evidence on phylogenetic relationship of the G. chui at the molecular level and essential resource for further research on this species.

The complete mitochondrial genome of the Schizothorax curilabiatus (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

Project description:The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of Schizothorax curilabiatus was determined and analyzed. This mitochondrial genome was 16,578bp in length and showed significant AT bias (55.5% AT content, 44.5% GC content). Phylogenetic analysis showed that S. curilabiatus is more closely related to S. oconnori than to other species. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence provides an important dataset for the exploration of mitochondrial inheritance mechanism.

It is 16,603 bp long, with 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 1 control region, which is 927 bp long, located between tRNApro and tRNAphe. The overall base composition is as follows: 29.98% A, 16.86% G, 25.44% T, and 27.72% C, with a slight AT bias. These results provide necessary data for phylogenetic studies on Squalidus species.
