The complete chloroplast genome of Spiraea mongolica Maxim.

ABSTRACT: The complete chloroplast genome of Spirea mongolica Maxim. was sequenced and assembled. It is a circular form of 155949 bp in length, which was separated into four distinct regions, a large single copy (LSC) of 84375 bp, a small single copy region (SSC) of 18894 bp, two inverted repeats (IR) of 26340 bp. After annotation, a total of 115 genes were predicted, of which, 70 encode proteins, 8 rRNA, 37 tRNA. The evolutionary history, inferred using Neighbour-Joining method, indicates that S. mongolica was grouped within Rosaceae, and comprised a clade with Spirea blumei G.Don, another species in Spirea, with 100% BS value.

The chloroplast genome of T. mongolica is 162,804 bp, with a large single copy region of 91,255 bp, small single copy region of 20,355 bp, and two inverted-repeat regions of 25,597 bp. The chloroplast genome contains 130 genes, including 85 protein-coding, 8 rRNA, and 37 tRNA. The total GC content is 36.46%. The phylogenetic analysis of T. mongolica showed a relatively close relationship with Tilia taishanensis.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Spiraea blumei G. Don (Rosaceae).

Project description:Spiraea blumei G. Don is an ornamental shrub widely distributed in Eastern Asia. Here, we reported and characterized the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of S. blumei (GenBank accession number: MN418904) to provide genomic resources for promoting its conservation. The total chloroplast genome is 155,957 bp in length and contains the typical chloroplast structure, including two inverted repeat (IR) regions of 26,343 bp, a large single-copy (LSC) region of 84,384 bp, and a small single-copy (SSC) region of 18,887 bp. The overall guanine-cytosine (GC) content of the S. blumei chloroplast genome is 36.8%. The cp genome encodes 133 unique genes, including 85 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 40 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. We used the cp genome of S. blumei and 26 other cp genomes to perform a phylogenetic analysis, which indicated that S. blumei was closely related to S. martini in Rosaceae.

The length of cp genome was 152,982 bp, containing a large single-copy region (LSC) of 84,233 bp and a small single-copy region (SSC) of 18,139 bp, which were separated by a pair of 25,305 bp inverted repeat regions (IRs). The genome contained 132 genes, including 86 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The overall GC content is 37.16%. Further, phylogenetic analysis suggested that Potaninia is clustered to genus Dasiphora.

Project description:Rubus peltatus Maxim. (Bull. Acad. Imp. 1871) is a wild species endemic to East and Southeast China. However, genetic resources were unavailable for this species. The chloroplast genome of R. peltatus contains 130 genes, including eight transfer RNA genes, 36 ribosomal RNA genes, and 86 protein-coding genes. Phylogenetic analysis supports R. peltatus has a close relationship with the R. cochinchinensis and R. takesimensis.

The complete chloroplast genome and phylogenetic analysis of Primula stenocalyx Maxim.

Project description:Primula stenocalyx Maxim. is a perennial herb with purple umbel flowers. This alpine plant can survive at altitudes of 2700-4300 m. To explore the chloroplast genome, total DNA was extracted from a sample and sequenced, the reads of the chloroplast genome were assembled and annotated. The chloroplast genome of this plant has a circular form with a length of 153,678 bp comprising a large single-copy region (LSC, 84,236 bp), a small single-copy region (SSC, 17,746 bp), and two inverted repeats (IRs, 25,848 bp). The genome has a GC content of 37%. A total of 133 genes were predicted to contain 88 encoded proteins, 8 rRNAs and 37 tRNAs. The evolutionary history indicates that P. stenocalyx was grouped within Primula and formed a clade with Primula knuthiana with a 100% bootstrap support value. The complete cp genome of P. stenocalyx can serve as a reference for future studies on molecular biology, evolution, population genetics, taxonomy and resource protection.

The chloroplast genome of Spiraea thunbergii (Rosaceae).

Project description:Spiraea thunbergii (S. thunbergia) is a very common ornamental shrub in the garden, with important horticultural and economic value. In this study, we assembled the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of S. thunbergia into a typical quadripartite structure. The genome size and GC content of the S. thunbergia cp genome are 155,922 bp and 36.76%, respectively. It contains 84 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The phylogenetic tree supported that S. thunbergii is closely related to Spiraea mongolica in the Rosaceae family. The study will provide significant genomic resource for elucidating the phylogenetic relationship of Spiraea.
