The complete chloroplast genome of Pluchea pteropoda Hemsl, a mangrove associate plant.

ABSTRACT: Pluchea pteropoda Hemsl is a mangrove associate plant of Asteraceae with medicinal properties such as anti-inflammation and fever-relieving. Here, our study presented the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of Pluchea pteropoda Hemsl. The cp genome of P. pteropoda was 152,300 bp in length, including a large single copy (LSC) region of 84,127 bp, a small single copy (SSC) region of 18,093 bp and a pair of inverted repeats (IR) regions of 25,040 bp. A total of 111 unique genes were found, comprising 79 protein-coding genes, 28 tRNA genes, and 4 rRNA genes. The GC content of the cp genome was 37.5%. Phylogenetic analysis suggested that P. pteropoda nested in Pluchea clade, which was closely related to Ageratina adenophora and Senecio scandens. The work provides beneficial data for following researches on the genetic variation, species delimitation, phylogeny and classification of Pluchea genus.

Project description:Talipariti tiliaceum is an evergreen mangrove associate species distributed throughout the world. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome sequence of T. tiliaceum was assembled and characterized using high-throughput sequencing data. The chloroplast genome was found to be 161 766 bp in length, consisting of large single-copy (LSC) and small single-copy (SSC) regions of 89 273 and 19 551 bp, respectively, which were separated by a pair of 26 471 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The genome contained 129 genes, including 84 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. A phylogenetic tree including 66 chloroplast genomes from various species revealed that T. tiliaceum was most related to T. hamabo of the same genus.

Project description:Zanthoxylum stenophyllum Hemsl., a type species for the genus Zanthoxylum (Rutaceae), is a traditional medicinal plant. We studied the complete chloroplast genome of this species using BGISEQ-500 platform. The chloroplast genome was 158,314 bp in size with a GC content of 38.45%. The genome contained two short inverted repeat (IRa and IRb) regions of 27,052 bp, a large single-copy region (LSC, 86,029 bp) and a small single-copy region (SSC, 18,181 bp). The annotated complete chloroplast genome contains 133 distinct genes, including 88 protein-coding genes, 37 transfer RNAs (tRNAs), and 8 ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs). Phylogenetic analysis indicated that Z. stenophyllum is clustered with Z. schiniflium and Z. pinnatum in the same branch with 100% bootstrap support. This complete chloroplast genome provides valuable genomic information for the molecular phylogeny and sustainable utilization of Zanthoxylum.

Here, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome sequence of H. tiliaceus was assembled and characterized. The cp genome was 161,748 bp in length, consisting of a large single copy (LSC) region of 89,190 bp and a small single copy (SSC) region of 19,616 bp, which were separated by a pair of 26,471 bp inverted repeat (IR) regions. The overall GC content was 36.88%. A total of 131 genes, including 85 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes and 8 rRNA genes were identified. Phylogenetic tree reconstructed by 15 complete cp genomes revealed that H. tiliaceus was sister to the congeneric species H. cannabinus.

Project description:Acanthus ilicifolius is an excellent mangrove plant. In this study, the complete chloroplast genome of A. ilicifolius, a salt tolerant plant of Acanthaceae, was generated. The length of chloroplast genome is 150,758 bp, in which the large-single copy region (LSC) is 82,963 bp, the small-single copy (SSC) region is 17,191 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat (IRa and IRb) regions is 25,302 bp. The chloroplast genome contains 128 genes, including 84 protein-coding genes, eight rRNA genes, and 36 tRNAs genes, with a total GC content of 38%. Phylogenetic analysis showed that A. ilicifolius was closely related to A. ebracteatus, both species belonged to Acanthus genus.

In this study, we sequenced, assembled, and annotated the complete chloroplast genome of T. nudiflora. The chloroplast genome of T. nudiflora is 156,824 base pair (bp) in length, containing a large single-copy region of 86,566 bp and a small single-copy region of 18,070 bp, separated by a pair of inverted repeats of 26,094 bp. The chloroplast genome contains 132 genes, including 87 protein-coding, 37 transfer RNA, and eight ribosomal RNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis of the chloroplast genome revealed that species of the genus Thladiantha were clustered together in the phylogenetic trees. This study will not only shed light on T. nudiflora's evolutionary position but also provide valuable chloroplast genomic information for future studies into the origins and diversification of the genus Thladiantha and the Cucurbitaceae family.

The complete chloroplast genome was 160,205 bp forming a typical quadripartite structure, with a pair of inverted repeated (IRs) regions of 25,670 bp, a large single copy (LSC) region of 89,849 bp, and a small single copy (SSC) region of 19,016 bp. A total of 124 functional genes were annotated, including 79 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. The ML phylogenetic analysis showed that the genus Castanopsis formed a clade except Castanopsis fargesii.

Project description:This study presents the chloroplast genome of Pluchea indica(L.) Less, Asteraceae, one wide distributed species of mangrove associates plant in China, which was assembled and analyzed by de novo assembly using whole-genome sequencing data. The accessing NC_015621 was used as a reference sequence in this study. The size of the complete chloroplast genome was found to be 152,298 bp in length, comprising a large single copy region (LSC) of 84,127bp, a small single copy region (SSC) 18,068 bp, and inverted repeat regions (IRS) of 25,051bp. A total of 128 genes, including 84 protein-coding genes, 36 tRNA genes and eight rRNA genes, were predicted from the chloroplast genomes. Among them, 17 genes occur in IRS, containing six protein-coding genes, seven tRNA genes and four rRNA genes. The GC content of P. indica is 37.49%. The phylogenetic analysis with four Asterids species and five other species revealed that P. indica was clusted with Ageratina adenophora.
