Draft Genome Sequences of 10 Bacteria from the Marine Pseudoalteromonas Group.

ABSTRACT: Here, we report the draft genome sequences of 10 marine Pseudoalteromonas bacteria that were isolated, assembled, and annotated by undergraduate students participating in a marine microbial genomics course. Genomic comparisons suggest that 7 of the 10 strains are novel isolates, providing a resource for future marine microbiology investigations.

Various putative polysaccharide-degrading genes were found in the draft genome.

Draft Genome Sequences of Four Aerobic Isobutane-Metabolizing Bacteria.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequences of four aerobic gaseous alkane-oxidizing bacteria isolated from soil by enrichment culture using isobutane (2-methylpropane) as the sole carbon and energy source. The sequences all reveal microorganisms with multiple alkane-oxidizing monooxygenases, including soluble di-iron monooxygenases (SDIMOs), copper-containing monooxygenases (CuMMOs), and alkane hydroxylases (AHs).

Draft Genome Sequences of Three Rhizospheric Plant Growth-Promoting Bacteria.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequences of Bacillus subtilis A1, Sphingobacterium sp. strain A3, and Pseudomonas sp. strain A29; Sphingobacterium sp. A3 and Pseudomonas sp. A29 were identified as Bacillus velezensis strain A3 and Bacillus subtilis strain A29, respectively, after a quality control check of the whole-genome sequences deposited in the NCBI database. These bacteria exhibit tremendous production of siderophores and significant antimicrobial potential. When inoculated on maize, these isolates increase its yield.

Both genomes will provide valuable information regarding the role of fungi and carbon cycling in the energy-limited subsurface biosphere.
