Laccases can catalyze the remediation of hazardous synthetic dyes in an eco-friendly manner, and thermostable laccases are advantageous to treat high-temperature dyeing wastewater. A novel laccase from <i>Geothermobacter hydrogeniphilus</i> (Ghlac) was cloned and expressed in <i>Escherichia coli</i>.
