N'-(2-Hy-droxy-3-meth-oxy-benzyl-idene)pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title hydrated Schiff base, C₁₃H₁₂N₄O₃·H₂O, the dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 5.06 (11)° and an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond closes an S(6) ring. In the crystal, O_w-H⋯O and O_w-H⋯N (w = water) hydrogen bonds link the components into centrosymmetric tetra-mers (two Schiff bases and two water mol-ecules). Longer N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the tetra-mers into [010] chains. A weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bond and aromatic π-π stacking between the pyrazine and phenyl rings [centroid-centroid separations = 3.604 (2) and 3.715 (2) Å] are also observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(12)H(10)N(4)O(2)·H(2)O, was synthesized by the reaction of pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid hydrazide and 3-hydroxy-benzaldehyde in ethanol. In the crystal structure, the organic mol-ecules are linked into extended chains by inter-molecular N(amide)-H⋯O(hydr-oxy) hydrogen bonds. Additional hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecule and three adjacent organic mol-ecules, as well as face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions between the benzene and pyrazine rings [centroid-to-centroid separation = 3.669 (2) Å and offset = 1.362 Å], link the mol-ecules into a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:In the title compound, C12H9BrN4O, the N'-methyl-idene-pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide and 4-bromobenzene groups are oriented at a dihedral angle of 10.57?(7)°. The hydrazide N-H group is involved in intra-molecular N-H?N inter-action, which generates an S(5) motif. A short C-H?O inter-action is formed between the methyl-idene H atom and the carbonyl O atom. It connects mol-ecules into chains extending along [100]. Mol-ecule B is planar to within 0.044 (3) Å for all non-H atoms, while mol-ecule A is slightly twisted, with a dihedral angle of 6.29 (4)° between the mean planes of the pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide and 1-(2-hy-droxy-phen-yl)ethanone moieties (r.m.s. deviations = 0.0348 and 0.0428 Å, respectively). S(5) and S(6) ring motifs are formed in both mol-ecules due to the presence of intra-molecular O-H⋯N and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, mol-ecules A and B are linked by a C-H⋯O hydrogen bond. They stack along the a-axis direction, forming columns with π-π inter-actions involving inversion-related pyrazine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.5489 (13)-3.8513 (16) Å].
