Interactions between chromosomes and LINC (linker of nucleoskeleton and cytoskeleton) complexes in the nuclear envelope (NE) promote homolog pairing and synapsis during meiosis. By tethering chromosomes to cytoskeletal motors, these connections lead to processive chromosome movements along the NE.
