Enzymic formation of Glycerol 1:2-cyclic phosphate.


ABSTRACT: Glycerol 1:2-cyclic phosphate is released simultaneously with glycerophosphate when kidney glycerophosphinicocholine diesterase (EC 3.1.4.2) acts on glycerylphosphorylcholine and glycerylphosphorylethanolamine. The percentage of cyclic phosphate ester formed is increased at pH values below the optimum and is decreased when Mg2+ or Ca2+ is added to stimulate the reaction.
