Junctional membrane complexes (JMCs) composed of the plasma membrane and endoplasmic/sarcoplasmic reticulum seem to be a structural platform for channel crosstalk. Junctophilins (JPs) contribute to JMC formation by spanning the sarcoplasmic reticulum membrane and binding with the plasma membrane in muscle cells.
