ABSTRACT: The absolute configuration of the title compound, C(12)H(15)NO(7)·0.5H(2)O, was assigned from the synthesis. There are two rhamnoside mol-ecules and one water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit, displaying O-H?O hydrogen bonding. One of the nitro groups does not conjugate efficiently with the benzene ring.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(15)NO(7)·0.5H(2)O, there are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, together with one water molecule. The pyran-oside rings each have close to a (1)C(4) chair conformation and the nitro groups are almost coplanar with the benzene rings. The water mol-ecule links the two independent mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. All the hydroxyl groups are involved in hydrogen-bond inter-actions, giving rise to a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, C(14)H(20)O(5)S·0.5H(2)O, crystallizes with two organic mol-ecules and a solvent water mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. In both mol-ecules, the hexa-pyranosyl rings adopt a slightly distorted chair conformation ((5)C(2)) with four substituents in equatorial positions and one substituent in an axial position. The main difference between the organic mol-ecules is the dihedral angle between the phenyl ring and the best plane defined by the O-C(1)-C(2)-C(3) atoms (r.m.s deviations = 0.003 and 0.043?Å) of the hexa-pyranosyl rings [47.4?(4) and 86.5?(4)°]. In the asymmetric unit, mol-ecules are linked by two strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal, the components are linked by a total of 10 distinct O-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in the formation of a two-dimensional network parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:The synthesis and crystal structure of the title compound, C14H19NO8·H2O, prepared in three steps from 6-O-ethyl-1,2;3,4-di-O-iso-propyl-idene-α-d-galacto-pyran-ose using protecting-group strategies employed in carbohydrate chemistry, is reported. The asymmetric unit consists of a single galactoside mol-ecule, in which the pyran-oid ring has a 4C1 conformation and the 4-nitro-phenyl moiety is essentially planar. In the crystal, each carbohydrate is surrounded by other d-galactose residues and water mol-ecules, linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving all hy-droxy groups, giving a two-dimensional substructure lying parallel to (100) and extended into three dimensions by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(6)H(13)N(2)O(+)·C(8)H(7)O(2) (-)·0.5H(2)O, comprises two isonipecotamide cations, two phenyl-acetate anions and a water mol-ecule of solvation. The hydrogen-bonding environments for both sets of ion pairs are essentially identical with the piperidinium and amide 'ends' of each cation involved in lateral heteromolecular hydrogen-bonded cyclic N-H?O associations [graph set R(2) (2)(11)] which incorporate a single carboxyl O-atom acceptor. These cyclic motifs enclose larger R(5) (5)(21) cyclic systems, forming sheet substructures which lie parallel to (101) and are linked across b by the single water mol-ecule via water O-H?O(c) (c = carboxylate) associations, giving a duplex-sheet structure.

Project description:The title compound, C(40)H(31)NO(11)S·0.53CH(2)Cl(2)·0.38C(4)H(10)O, was synthesized in two steps from mannose penta-acetate and single crystals were grown by slow evaporation. The structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, confirming the α-configuration of the anomeric thioaryl substituent. The asymmetric unit contains two crystallographically distinct mol-ecules of the carbohydrate. The central pyran-ose rings of these are geometrically similar, but there are differences in the orientations of the benzoate substituents.

Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(22)N(2)O(10), was prepared by the glycosidation method through nitrite displacement on substituted nitro-phthalonitrile. The mol-ecule contains a benzene ring, two nitrile groups and an acetyl-protected d-glucose fragment which adopts a chair conformation. The absolute configuration was determined by the use of d-glucose as starting material. All substituents of the protected sugar are in equatorial positions, with the exclusive presence of the ?-anomer. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen-bonding inter-actions.

The two aromatic rings are twisted about the central carbamate group with a C-C-N-C torsion angle of 139.6 (2)° and a C-C-O-C torsion angle of 95.9 (2)°. The mol-ecules are linked into one-dimensional chains by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds along the b axis. Weak inter-actions between O atoms of the nitro groups (O⋯O = 3.012 Å) connect two adjacent chains.
