[(2-Morpholinoeth-yl)(2-pyridylmethyl-ene)amine]dithio-cyanato-zinc(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Zn(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(17)N(3)O)], was prepared by the reaction of zinc acetate with pyridine-2-carbaldehyde, 2-morpholinoethyl-amine and ammonium thio-cyanate in an ethanol solution. The Zn(II) atom is five coordinate with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, coordinating with three N atoms of the Schiff base (2-morpholinoeth-yl)(2-pyridylmethyl-idene)amine and two N atoms from two thio-cyanate ligands. The morpholine ring adopts a chair configuration.

Redetermination of {2-[3-(dimethyl-ammonio)propyl-imino-meth-yl]phenol-ato}-dithio-cyanato-zinc(II).

Project description:In comparison with the previous refinement of the title complex, [Zn(NCS)(2)(C(12)H(18)N(2)O)], the present redetermination reveals a different location of the non-carbon attached H atom. Whereas in the previous refinement this H atom was modelled as part of a phenol OH group, the present study indicates a zwitterionic Schiff base ligand with a deprotonated OH group and a protonated tertiary amine group. The Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated by one O and one imine N atoms of the 2-[3-(dimethyl-ammonio)propyl-imino-meth-yl]phenolate Schiff base ligand, and by two N atoms from two thio-cyanate ligands, forming a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, adjacent mol-ecules are linked through inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain in the [101] direction.

Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the mononuclear complex, [Cd(SCN)(2)(C(8)H(7)N(3))(2)], contains a Cd(II) atom in a distorted octa-hedral coordination defined by five N atoms from two bidentate chelate 2-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine ligands and by one SCN(-) anion. The second SCN(-) anion provides its S atom for completion of the coordination sphere. The complex is linked to four others by N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the pyrazol N-H group and the terminal S and N atoms of neighbouring SCN(-) anions. This arrangement leads to the formation of sheets parallel to (100). Face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions with shortest inter-planar distances of 3.805 (2) and 3.696 (2) Å help to consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(2)N(3))(C(18)H(18)N(4))]ClO(4), the Zn(II) ion has a slightly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal ZnN(5) coordination geometry. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds. In addition, there are relatively close contacts between the O atoms of the perchlorate anion and symmetry-related pyridine rings [O?Cg = 3.179?(3) and 3.236?(3)?Å, where Cg is the centroid of a pyridine ring], and between the terminal N atom of the dicyanamide ligand and pyridine rings [N?Cg = 3.381?(4)-3.761?(3)?Å]. The central N atom of the dicyanamide ligand is disordered over two sites in an approximately 0.6:0.4 ratio.

Project description:In the title complex, [Fe(NCS)2(C18H18N4)], the Fe(II) cation is chelated by a tris-(2-pyridyl-meth-yl)amine ligand and coordin-ated by two thio-cyanate anions in a distorted N6 octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions between parallel pyridine rings of adjacent mol-ecules [centroid-centroid distance = 3.653 (3) Å] link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular architecture. The structure contains voids of 124 (9) Å(3), which are free of solvent molecules.
