ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(7)H(8)N(2)O(4), crystallizes as a zwitterion, with mol-ecules organized into mol-ecular sheets via carbox-yl-carboxyl-ate and N(+)-H?carboxyl-ate contacts. These sheets are constructed from translationally related mol-ecules that further link to neighboring motifs via ?-stacking [centroid-centroid distance 3.504?(3)?Å] and weak C-H?O contacts.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(11)NO(4)·H(2)O, is a monohydrate of a betaine exhibiting a positively charged N-substituted isoquino-line group and a deprotonated carboxyl group. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected via short O-H?O hydrogen bonds between protonated and deprotonated carboxyl groups into chains of either R or S enanti-omers along [001]. These chains are additionally connected by hydrogen bonding between water mol-ecules and the deprotonated carb-oxy groups of neighbouring mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title hydrated salt, CH(6)N(3) (+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·H(2)O, the deprotonated carboxyl group is disordered over two positions with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.945?(3):0.055?(3). The bond lengths in the guanidinium cation are inter-mediate between normal C-N and C=N bond lengths, indicating significant delocalization in this species. In the crystal structure, anions and water mol-ecules are linked into sheets parallel to the ab plane by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The linking of the anions and water mol-ecules with the cations by inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds creates a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title hydrated salt, C6H6NO2 (+)·C10H5O8 (-)·H2O, was isolated from the 1:1 cocrystallization of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid and isonicotinic acid in ethanol solution. In the crystal, the cation is close to planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.085?Å for the nine fitted atoms; the C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angle = -8.7?(4)°], but twists are evident in the anion, with all but the carb-oxy-lic acid group diagonally opposite the carboxyl-ate group being significantly twisted out of the plane of the benzene ring [C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angles = -118.1?(2), -157.6?(2), 4.3?(3) and 77.3?(3)°]. In the crystal, the ions and water mol-ecules are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonding along with C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title salt, C6H12N3 (+)·C7H3N2O7 (-), the imidazole ring is planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.0013?(14)?Å for the N attached to the propanaminium group. In the anion, a single intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bond is observed. The mean planes of the nitro groups in the anion are twisted from the benzene ring mean plane making dihedral angles of 24.7?(9) and 3.9?(6)°. In the crystal, the ammonium H atoms form N-H?N and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in an infinite chain along [111]. In addition to the classical hydrogen bonds, weak C-H?O and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7124?(9)?Å] inter-actions are also observed, which lead to the formation a three-dimensional supramolecular structure that links the chains into layers along the bc plane.
