ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(7)H(8)N(2)O(4), crystallizes as a zwitterion, with mol-ecules organized into mol-ecular sheets via carbox-yl-carboxyl-ate and N(+)-H?carboxyl-ate contacts. These sheets are constructed from translationally related mol-ecules that further link to neighboring motifs via ?-stacking [centroid-centroid distance 3.504?(3)?Å] and weak C-H?O contacts.

The pyridinium and imidazole rings form a dihedral angle of 5.23 (1)°. An intramolecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the zwitterions and water mol-ecules into sheets parallel to (102).

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(11)NO(4)·H(2)O, is a monohydrate of a betaine exhibiting a positively charged N-substituted isoquino-line group and a deprotonated carboxyl group. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected via short O-H?O hydrogen bonds between protonated and deprotonated carboxyl groups into chains of either R or S enanti-omers along [001]. These chains are additionally connected by hydrogen bonding between water mol-ecules and the deprotonated carb-oxy groups of neighbouring mol-ecules.

Project description:In the zwitterionic title compound, C(17)H(11)NO(5), the dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 76.90 (7)°. The dihedral angles between the carboxyl groups and the benzene ring are 64.02 (9) and 21.67 (9)°, the larger angle being associated with an intra-molecular N-H⋯O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bond, resulting from proton transfer from the carb-oxy-lic acid group to the quinoline N atom and giving an S(9) ring motif. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains extending along the b-axis direction. An overall two-dimensional network structure is formed through π-π inter-actions between the quinoline rings [minimum ring-centroid separation = 3.6068 (6) Å].

Project description:The title hydrated salt, C6H6NO2 (+)·C10H5O8 (-)·H2O, was isolated from the 1:1 cocrystallization of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid and isonicotinic acid in ethanol solution. In the crystal, the cation is close to planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.085 Å for the nine fitted atoms; the C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angle = -8.7 (4)°], but twists are evident in the anion, with all but the carb-oxy-lic acid group diagonally opposite the carboxyl-ate group being significantly twisted out of the plane of the benzene ring [C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angles = -118.1 (2), -157.6 (2), 4.3 (3) and 77.3 (3)°]. In the crystal, the ions and water mol-ecules are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding along with C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title salt, C6H12N3 (+)·C7H3N2O7 (-), the imidazole ring is planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.0013 (14) Å for the N attached to the propanaminium group. In the anion, a single intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed. The mean planes of the nitro groups in the anion are twisted from the benzene ring mean plane making dihedral angles of 24.7 (9) and 3.9 (6)°. In the crystal, the ammonium H atoms form N-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in an infinite chain along [111]. In addition to the classical hydrogen bonds, weak C-H⋯O and π-π [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7124 (9) Å] inter-actions are also observed, which lead to the formation a three-dimensional supramolecular structure that links the chains into layers along the bc plane.
