Benzyl N-(4-pyrid-yl)carbamate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(13)H(12)N(2)O(2), was obtained by the reaction of 4-amino-pyridine and benzyl chloro-formate in tetra-hydro-furan. The crystal structure contains N-H?N hydrogen bonds between two unique mol-ecules within layers and anti-parallel C-O?O-C inter-actions [O?O = 3.06?(3)?Å] between the two mol-ecules of the asymmetric unit.

The phenyl ring makes dihedral angles of 77.2 (3) and 23.6 (3)° with the carbamate plane and the 4-fluoro-phenyl ring, respectively. The 4-fluoro-phenyl ring is perpendicular to the carbamate plane, the dihedral angle between them being 89.5 (3)°.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, C(11)H(16)N(2)O(2), contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules forming dimers by pairs of inter-molecular N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. The two mol-ecules are related by a pseudo-twofold axis. The dihedral angle between the pyridine ring and the carbamate plane differs in the two mol-ecules [12.1 (3) and 3.5 (3)°].
