Poly[diaqua-bis-[?-1-hy-droxy-2-(imidazol-3-ium-1-yl)ethane-1,1-diyldiphospho-nato]tricopper(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(5)H(7)N(2)O(7)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), one Cu(II) atom is five-coordinated by five O atoms from three 1-hy-droxy-2-(imidazol-3-ium-1-yl)ethane-1,1-diyldiphospho-nate (L) ligands in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The other Cu(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four O atoms from two L ligands and two O atoms from two water mol-ecules. The five-coordinated Cu(II) atoms are linked by phospho-nate O atoms of the L ligands, forming a polymeric chain. These chains are further linked by the six-coordinated Cu atoms into a layer parallel to (01). N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds connect the layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(5)H(9)N(2)O(7)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Mn(II) atom (site symmetry ) is coordinated by four phos-pho-n-ate O atoms from a pair of partially deprotonated 1-hydr-oxy-2-(imidazol-3-yl)ethane-1,1-bis-phophonic acid ligands (imhedpH(3) (-)) and two water mol-ecules, resulting in a slightly distorted trans-MnO(6) octa-hedral geometry for the metal ion. In the ligands, the imidazole units are protonated and two of the hydr-oxy O atoms of the phospho-nate groups are deprotonated and chelate the Mn(II), thus forming the neutral mol-ecule of the title compound. The two protonated O atoms within the phospho-nate groups of one imhedpH(3) (-) ligand act as hydrogen-bond acceptors for a bifurcated hydrogen bond originating from the coordinated water mol-ecule. The phospho-nate units of neigboring mol-ecules are connected with their equivalents in neighboring mol-ecules via two types of inversion-symmetric hydrogen-bonding arrangements with four and two strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds, respectively. The two inter-actions connect mol-ecules into infinite chains along [111] and [110], in combination forming a tightly hydrogen-bonded three-dimensional supra-molecular network. This network is further stabilized by additional hydrogen bonds between the protonated imidazole units and one of the coordinated P-O O atoms and by additional O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the P=O O atoms of neigboring mol-ecules.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(2)H(8)NO(6)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·9H(2)O, exhibits a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment around the Ni(II) atom. It contains two mol-ecules of 1-amino--ethyl-idenediphospho-nic acid in the zwitterionic form, coord-inated via O atoms from two phospho-nate groups and creating two six-membered chelate rings. Two water mol-ecules in cis positions complete the coordination environment of the Ni(II) atom. The title compound contains nine partly disordered solvent water mol-ecules, which create a three-dimensional network of strong O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds.

The Cu(2+) ions are coordinated by six O atoms. The CuO(6) polyhedra are connected by ?- and ?(3)-O atoms into zigzag chains along the b axis. These chains are further connected by -CH(2)CH(2)- groups to form layers, in turn building a three-dimensional framework via hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title compound, [Na(2)(C(2)H(8)NO(6)P(2))Cl(H(2)O)(2)](n), has a polymeric two-dimensional structure extending parallel to (001). The asymmetric unit contains two Na(+) cations located on a centre of symmetry and on a mirror plane, respectively, one half of a bis-phospho-nate anion (the entire anion is completed by mirror symmetry), one chloride anion on a mirror plane and one water mol-ecule in general positions. The two Na(+) cations exhibit distorted octa-hedral NaCl(2)O(4) coordination polyhedra, each consisting of two deprotonated O atoms of the bis-phospho-nate anion, of two water mol-ecules and of two chloride anions. Strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the -OH group and one of the free O atoms of the bis-phospho-nate anion connect adjacent layers along [100], supported by N-H?Cl inter-actions. Intra-layer O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds are also observed.

The crystal structure consists of ladder chains parallel to the b axis built up from vertex-sharing of ZnO(4) and PO(3)C tetra-hedra. The chains are linked by strong intra- and inter-chain O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular assembly.

In the crystal, an R(2) (2)(7) ring motif is formed by inter-molecular N-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds between the cation and the anion. In addition, inter-molecular O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the two ions, generating an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif. The slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment of the Pd(II) atoms in the complex anions is formed by O atoms of the bidentate chelating phospho-nate groups of the 1-hy-droxy-ethyl-idene-1,1-di-phospho-nate ligands. In the crystal, cations are bound to anions through -Ca-O-P-O- bonds, as well as through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, resulting in a three-dimensional polymer. The structure is completed by five disordered solvent mol-ecules localized in cavities within the framework.
