Poly[diaqua-bis-[?-1-hy-droxy-2-(imidazol-3-ium-1-yl)ethane-1,1-diyldiphospho-nato]tricopper(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(5)H(7)N(2)O(7)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), one Cu(II) atom is five-coordinated by five O atoms from three 1-hy-droxy-2-(imidazol-3-ium-1-yl)ethane-1,1-diyldiphospho-nate (L) ligands in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The other Cu(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by four O atoms from two L ligands and two O atoms from two water mol-ecules. The five-coordinated Cu(II) atoms are linked by phospho-nate O atoms of the L ligands, forming a polymeric chain. These chains are further linked by the six-coordinated Cu atoms into a layer parallel to (01). N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds connect the layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(C(5)H(9)N(2)O(7)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Mn(II) atom (site symmetry ) is coordinated by four phos-pho-n-ate O atoms from a pair of partially deprotonated 1-hydr-oxy-2-(imidazol-3-yl)ethane-1,1-bis-phophonic acid ligands (imhedpH(3) (-)) and two water mol-ecules, resulting in a slightly distorted trans-MnO(6) octa-hedral geometry for the metal ion. In the ligands, the imidazole units are protonated and two of the hydr-oxy O atoms of the phospho-nate groups are deprotonated and chelate the Mn(II), thus forming the neutral mol-ecule of the title compound. The two protonated O atoms within the phospho-nate groups of one imhedpH(3) (-) ligand act as hydrogen-bond acceptors for a bifurcated hydrogen bond originating from the coordinated water mol-ecule. The phospho-nate units of neigboring mol-ecules are connected with their equivalents in neighboring mol-ecules via two types of inversion-symmetric hydrogen-bonding arrangements with four and two strong O-H?O hydrogen bonds, respectively. The two inter-actions connect mol-ecules into infinite chains along [111] and [110], in combination forming a tightly hydrogen-bonded three-dimensional supra-molecular network. This network is further stabilized by additional hydrogen bonds between the protonated imidazole units and one of the coordinated P-O O atoms and by additional O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and the P=O O atoms of neigboring mol-ecules.

The other Gd cation is coordinated by four 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions and one 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted N(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry. The 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate anions bridge the Gd cations, forming a layer structure. Synthesis and crystal structure of 1,3-bis-(4-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1<i>H</i>-imidazol-3-ium chloride.

Project description:Imidazolium salts are common building blocks for functional materials and in the synthesis of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) as ?-donor ligands for stable metal complexes. The title salt, 1,3-bis-(4-hy-droxy-phen-yl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium chloride (IOH·Cl), C15H13N2O2 +·Cl-, is a new imidazolium salt with a hy-droxy functionality. The synthesis of IOH·Cl was achieved in high yield via a two-step procedure involving a di-aza-butadiene precursor followed by ring closure using tri-methylchloro-silane and paraformaldehyde. The structure of IOH·Cl consists of a central planar imidazolium ring (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0015?Å), with out-of-plane phenolic side arms. The dihedral angles between the 4-hy-droxy-phenyl substituents and the imidazole ring are 55.27?(7) and 48.85?(11)°. In the crystal, O-H?Cl hydrogen bonds connect the distal hy-droxy groups and Cl- anions in adjacent asymmetric units, one related by inversion (-x + 1, -y + 1, -z + 1) and one by the n-glide (x - , -y + , z - ), with donor-acceptor distances of 2.977?(2) and 3.0130?(18)?Å, respectively. The phenolic rings are each ?-? stacked with their respective inversion-related [(-x + 1, -y + 1, -z + 1) and (-x, -y + 1, -z + 1)] counterparts, with inter-planar distances of 3.560?(3) and 3.778?(3)?Å. The only other noteworthy inter-molecular inter-action is an O?O (not hydrogen bonded) close contact of 2.999?(3)?Å between crystallographically different hy-droxy O atoms on translationally adjacent mol-ecules (x + 1, y, x + 1).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C44H30O2, contains two independent mol-ecules in which the terminal rings of the terphenyl element are inclined at angles of 36.3 (1) and 22.5 (1)° with respect to the central ring and the dihedral angles between the fluorenyl units are 72.3 (1) and 62.8 (1)°. In the crystal, pairs of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into inversion dimers. The hy-droxy H atoms not involved in these hydrogen bonds form O-H⋯π inter-actions in which the central terphenyl rings act as acceptors. Weak C-H⋯O contacts and π-π [centroid-centroid distance = 4.088 (2) Å] stacking inter-actions also occur. Taking into account directed non-covalent bonding between the molecules, the crystal is constructed of supramolecular strands extending along the a-axis direction.

Project description:In the title complex, [Zn(C(5)H(9)NO(7)P(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the zinc atom is coordinated by two bidentate zoledronate [zoledronate = (2-(1-imidazole)-1-hydr-oxy-1,1'-ethyl-idenediphophonate)] ligands and two water mol-ecules. The coordination number is 6. There is one half-mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit with the zinc atom located on a crystallographic inversion centre. The anion exists as a zwitterion with an overall charge of -1; the protonated nitro-gen in the ring has a positive charge and the two phospho-nates groups each have a single negative charge. There are two intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. The mol-ecules are linked into a chain by inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds. Adjacent chains are further linked by O-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the aqua ligands. An N-H?O inter-action is also observed.
