Morpholin-4-ium 4-meth-oxy-benzoate 4-meth-oxy-benzoic acid monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(8)H(7)O(3) (-)·C(8)H(8)O(3)·H(2)O, cations, anions and neutral mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H?O and O-H?O hydrogen bonds into chains running parallel to the c axis. The -CO(2) groups make dihedral angles of 4.6?(3) and 5.7?(4)° with the attached ring in the 4-methoxybenzoic acid molecule and the 4-methoxybenzoate anion, respectively.

Project description:In this study, four new piperazinium salts, namely, 4-phenyl-piperazin-1-ium 4-eth-oxy-benzoate monohydrate, C9H9O3·C10H15N2·H2O (I); 4-phenyl-piperazin-1-ium 4-meth-oxy-benzoate monohydrate, C10H15N2·C8H7O3·H2O (II); 4-phenyl-piperazin-1-ium 4-methyl-benzoate monohydrate, C10H15N2·C8H7O2·H2O (III); and 4-phenyl-piperazin-1-ium tri-fluoro-acetate 0.12 hydrate, C10H15N2·C2F3O2·0.12H2O (IV), have been synthesized. The single-crystal structures of these compounds reveal that all of them crystallize in the triclinic P space group and the crystal packing of (I)-(III) is built up of ribbons formed by a combination of hydrogen bonds of type N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and other weak inter-actions of type C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π, leading to a three-dimensional network. In the crystal of (IV), the cations and the anions are connected by C-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯F hydrogen bonds and by C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming sheets which in turn inter-act to maintain the crystal structure by linking through the oxygen atoms of water mol-ecules and van der Waals inter-actions, giving the whole structure.

Comparison of the crystal structures of methyl 4-bromo-2-(meth-oxy-meth-oxy)benzoate and 4-bromo-3-(meth-oxy-meth-oxy)benzoic acid.

Project description:The title compounds, C10H11BrO4, (I), and C9H9BrO4, (II), are derivatives of bromo-hy-droxy-benzoic acids. Compound (II) crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In both (I) and (II), the O-CH2-O-CH3 side chain is not in its fully extended conformation; the O-C-O-C torsion angle is 67.3 (3) ° in (I), and -65.8 (3) and -74.1 (3)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively, in compound (II). In the crystal of (I), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming C(5) chains along [010]. The chains are linked by short Br⋯O contacts [3.047 (2) Å], forming sheets parallel to the bc plane. The sheets are linked via C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional architecture. In the crystal of (II), mol-ecules A and B are linked to form R 2 (2)(8) dimers via two strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These dimers are linked into ⋯A-B⋯A-B⋯A-B⋯ [C 2 (2)(15)] chains along [011] by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The chains are linked by slipped parallel π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distances = 3.6787 (18) and 3.8431 (17) Å], leading to the formation of slabs parallel to the bc plane.

4-Carb-oxy-pyridin-1-ium 2,4,5-tri-carb-oxy-benzoate monohydrate.

Project description:The title hydrated salt, C6H6NO2 (+)·C10H5O8 (-)·H2O, was isolated from the 1:1 cocrystallization of benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carb-oxy-lic acid and isonicotinic acid in ethanol solution. In the crystal, the cation is close to planar [r.m.s. deviation = 0.085 Å for the nine fitted atoms; the C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angle = -8.7 (4)°], but twists are evident in the anion, with all but the carb-oxy-lic acid group diagonally opposite the carboxyl-ate group being significantly twisted out of the plane of the benzene ring [C-C-C-O(carbon-yl) torsion angles = -118.1 (2), -157.6 (2), 4.3 (3) and 77.3 (3)°]. In the crystal, the ions and water mol-ecules are consolidated into a three-dimensional architecture by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding along with C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:In the preparation of the title hydrated salt, C14H13N2 (+)·C10H5O8 (-)·H2O, a proton has been transfered to the 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthrolinium cation, forming a 2,4,5-tri-carb-oxy-benzoate anion. In the anion, the mean planes of the protonated carboxyl-ate groups form dihedral angles of 11.0 (5), 4.4 (5) and 80.3 (4)° with the benzene ring to which they are attached. The mean plane of the deprotonated carboxyl-ate group forms a dihedral angle of 10.6 (5)° with the benzene ring. In the crystal, the anions are involved in carb-oxy-lic acid O-H⋯Ocarbox-yl hydrogen bonds, generating a two-dimensional network parallel to (001) containing R 4 (4)(28) and R 4 (4)(32) motifs. The 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthrolinium cations and water mol-ecules reside between the anion layers and are connected to the anions via N-H⋯Owater and Owater-H⋯Ocarbox-yl hydrogen bonds. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is also observed in the anion.

Project description:In the title compound, C(4)H(10)NO(+)·C(4)H(5)O(6) (-)·H(2)O, the morpholine ring adopts a chair conformation. In the crystal, the tartrate anions are linked via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains propagating along [101]. These chains are linked via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, involving the morpholinium cation and the water molecule, forming a three-dimensional network.

Further O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds assemble these rings through R(6) (6)(18) rings, giving rise to infinite helical chains arranged around the b axis. Project description:The title compound, C(10)H(10)O(4), crystallizes with the well-known carb-oxy-lic acid dimer-forming R(2) (2)(8) hydrogen-bond motif. Chains approximately parallel to (-1-12) are then built through C(methyl-ene,phen-yl)-H⋯O(carbon-yl) inter-actions [C(6) and C(8) motifs] with one (meth-yl)C-H⋯π inter-action providing inter-planar binding. The weakness of the latter inter-action is consistent with the difficulty experienced in obtaining suitable single crystals.

Project description:Co-crystallization of N-(4-meth-oxy-phen-yl)piperazine with 4-methyl-benzoic acid and with benzene-1,2-di-carb-oxy-lic acid yields the salts 4-(4-meth-oxy-phen-yl)piperazin-1-ium 4-methyl-benzoate monohydrate, C11H17N2O+·C8H7O2 -·H2O (I), and bis-[4-(4-meth-oxy-phen-yl)piperazin-1-ium] benzene-1,2-di-carboxyl-ate, 2C11H17N2O+·C8H4O4 2- (II). These salts both crystallize with Z' = 2, in space groups P and Pna21, respectively. In compound (I), a combination of four O-H⋯O, four N-H⋯O, one C-H⋯O and one C-H⋯π(arene) hydrogen bonds link the six independent components into complex sheets, within which the two piperazine rings, the two anions, and the two water mol-ecules are related by an approximate, non-crystallographic translation along the b-axis direction. In compound (II), sheets containing R 4 4(18) and R 10 12(38) rings are formed by the combined action of eight independent N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Comparisons are made with the structures of some related compounds.
