ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(6)H(12)N(2)O(2)S, the heterocyclic ring has a sofa conformation. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-action with graph-set motif S(6). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H?S, N-H?S and N-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions, forming an extended two-dimensional framework parallel to the ac plane.

The two imidazole rings are each planar (r.m.s. deviations = 0.0016 and 0.0060?Å) and make a dihedral angle of 45.3?(18)°. Intra-molecular O-H?F hydrogen bonds occur. Inter-molecular C-H?F, O-H?O and C-H?O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(20)H(26)N(2)O(2), the 1,3-diazinane ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation and the hy-droxy-benzyl substituents occupy equatorial positions on the N atoms of the heterocyclic ring. There are two intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds between the N atoms of the 1,3-diazinane ring and the hy-droxy groups of the aromatic rings, with an S(6) set-graph motif. However, the two observed intra-molecular hydrogen-bond distances were different. Considering that both N atoms experience the same chemical environment, it is surprising to see the difference in O?N distances [2.6771?(14) and 2.8123?(12)?Å]. The crystal structure is further stabilized by a C-H?? interaction.

Project description:The Zn(II) atom in the title complex, [Zn(C(6)H(4)O(8)S(2))(H(2)O)(5)]·5H(2)O, is coordinated by five water mol-ecules and an O atom of a 4,6-dihy-droxy-benzene-1,3-disulfonate dianion. The coord-ination geometry is distorted octa-hedral, with the Zn-O(sulfonate) bond relatively long compared to the Zn-O(water) bonds. The coordinated and lattice water mol-ecules inter-act with each other and with the hy-droxy groups and sulfonate ligand through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a tightly held three-dimensional network.

The essentially planar mol-ecular structure is characterized by a short intra-molecular C-H?O separation and by an exceptionally large bond angle of 138.25?(14)° at the bridging methine C atom. The meth-oxy groups deviate somewhat from the plane of the benzene ring, with C-C-O-C torsion angles of -15.6?(1) and 9.17?(6)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers via donor-acceptor ?-? inter-actions, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.401?(1)?Å.
