ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [CaI(C(4)H(10)O(2))(3)]I, the Ca(II) atom is seven-coordinated by six O atoms from three 1,2-dimeth-oxy-ethane (DME) ligands and one iodide anion in a distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. The I atom and one of the O atoms from a DME ligand lie in the axial positions while the other O atoms lie in the basal plane. The other iodide anion is outside the complex cation.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(2)H(8)N(2))(3)](CO(3))I·4H(2)O, crystallizes with a [Co(en)(3)](3+) cation (en is ethane-1,2-diamine), CO(3) (2-) and I(-) anions and four water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In the cation, the three rings formed by the ethyl-enediamine units and the Co(III) metal ion are in slightly distorted twist conformations. Numerous O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, N-H⋯I and O-H⋯I inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between the cation and two anions in concert with the four water mol-ecules dominate the crystal packing and create a supra-molecular infinite three-dimensional framework.

Project description:In the title compound, [Na(C(6)H(5)NH)(C(4)H(10)O(2))], the Na(+) cation is coordinated by the N atoms of two anilide anions, two O atoms of a chelating 1,2-dimeth-oxy-ethane (dme) ligand and one O atom of an adjacent dme ligand. The coordination polyhedron around Na(+) corresponds to a distorted square pyramid with the N atoms of the anilide groups and the O atoms of the chelating dme unit at the base and a third O atom at the apical position. The anilide anions act as ?-bridging ligands and the 1,2-dimeth-oxy-ethane mol-ecules display a ?(2)-?(3)-O,O' coordination mode. As a result of this connectivity, a polymeric chain structure parallel to [100] is formed, consisting of Na(2)O(2) and Na(2)N(2) four-membered rings. It should be noted that the remaining H atom of the anilide NH group is not involved in hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The title complex, [Ni(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)], lies on a mirror plane with the Ni(II) ion coordinated by two N and two O atoms of a tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand and one water O atom in a distorted square-pyramidal enviroment. The -CH(2)-CH(2)- group of the ligand is disordered equally over two sites about the mirror plane. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two symmetry-related chelate rings is 37.16?(6)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link complex mol-ecules into one-dimensional chains along [100] and these chains are linked, in turn, by very weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(20)H(22)N(2)O(4))]·0.5H(2)O, the Ni(II) ion is in a slightly distorted square-planar geometry involving an N(2)O(2) atom set of the tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand. The asymmetric unit contains one mol-ecule of the complex and half a water solvent mol-ecule. The solvent water mol-ecule lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis. An inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond forms an R(2) (1)(4) ring motif involving a bifurcated hydrogen bond to the phenolate O atoms of the complex. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by π-π stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.5310 (11)-3.7905 (12) Å, forming extended chains along the b axis. In addition, there are Ni⋯Ni and Ni⋯N inter-actions [3.4404 (4)-4.1588 (4) and 3.383 (2)-3.756 (2) Å, respectively] which are shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the relevant atoms. Further stabilization of the crystal structure is attained by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

The planar Ni-salen moieties (r.m.s. deviation for the plane through the conjugated part of the Ni-salen group = 0.07 Å) form parallel stacks in the a-axis direction, with alternating Ni⋯Ni separations of 3.5339 (7) and 3.6165 (7) Å. In the crystal, there are weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O inter-actions involving the dimethyl-formamide O and phenolate O atoms.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn(C(18)H(18)N(2)O(4))(CH(3)OH)(H(2)O)]ClO(4)·0.5H(2)O, contains two complex cations and two perchlorate anions, one of which is disordered over two positions in a 0.767?(8):0.233?(8) ratio. The Mn(III) atoms are in distorted octa-hedral environments. In addition to the equatorial tetra-dentate salicylaldimine ligand, each Mn is axially coordinated by both a methanol and a water mol-ecule. The complex is a dimer held together by multiple strong and weak hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the coordinated water mol-ecule on one monomer with all the phenolic and meth-oxy O atoms on the other monomer. In addition, the two perchlorate anions are linked by hydrogen bonds to the two methanol mol-ecules coordinated to each Mn center. The Mn-O phenolic bond distances range from 1.868?(2) to 1.882?(2)?Å while the Mn-N distances range from 1.978?(2) to 1.981?(2)?Å. Mn-O distances for the axial water and methanol ligands are longer at 2.226?(2)/2.257?(2) and 2.313?(2)/2.324?(2)?Å, reflecting the usual Jahn-Teller distortion as found in Mn(III) complexes.

The coordination environment of the Ni(2+) ion is distorted square-planar and it is N(2)O(2) coordinated by the 6,6'-dimeth-oxy-2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilo-methyl-idyne)]diphenolate Schiff base ligand. The Na(+) atom is chelated by the four O atoms of the Schiff base ligand, a water ligand and a dicyanamide anion. The structure displays inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonding.
