[(4S,5S)-2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4,5-di-yl]bis-[N-(thio-phen-2-yl-methyl-idene)methanamine].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(17)H(20)N(2)O(2)S(2), the five-membered heterocycle exhibits an envelope conformation and the mol-ecular chirality and configuration are well preserved from l-tartaric acid. The dihedral angle between the two thio-phene rings is 17.0?(2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by C-H?O and C-H?S hydrogen inter-actions, which are effective in the stabilization of the crystal structure.

Project description:The title compound, C7H8N2O2, formed by dehydration of the corresponding dicarboxamide, crystallizes as rectangular prisms. The mol-ecules have a C 2 axis of symmetry through the C atom bearing the methyl groups and the mid-point of the ring C-C bond, and the 1,3-dioxolane ring adopts the extreme twist conformation of the two possible with this symmetry. This brings the two nitrile groups nearest to a linear arrangement when the mol-ecule is viewed along the ring C-C bond. The correct absolute configuration of the mol-ecule was defined by that of the original starting material, (2R,3R)-tartaric acid. The packing is largely controlled by a number of C-H?N interactions.

Inter-molecular C-H?O and C-H?S inter-actions are observed.

Project description:The Kiliani reaction on 1-de-oxy-(N,N-dimethyl-amino)-d-fructose, itself readily available from reaction of dimethyl-amine and d-glucose, proceeded to give access to the title ?-sugar amino acid, C(15)H(27)NO(7). X-ray crystallography determined the stereochemistry at the newly formed chiral center. There are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit; they are related by a pseudo-twofold rotation axis and have very similar geometries, differing only in the conformation of one of the acetonide rings. All the acetonide rings adopt envelope conformations; the flap atom is oxygen in three of the rings, but carbon in one of them. There are two strong hydrogen bonds between the two independent mol-ecules, and further weak hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules to form infinite chains running parallel to the a axis.

The Ti(IV) atom displays a distorted tetra-hedral geometry, with Ti-O bond lengths ranging from 1.805 (3) to 1.830 (3) Å and O-Ti-O ligand bite angles of 100.16 (12) and 101.36 (12)°. Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(C11H20N2)2(CO)3], the Fe atom shows a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry with three carbonyl and two carbene ligands. The latter have a cis arrangement, with a C-Fe-C angle of 90.60?(7)°. The Fe atom lies 0.007?(1)?Å above the basal plane defined by two carbonyl and one carbene C atoms. The mol-ecular structure is closely related to that of the isomolecular but not isotypic Ru complex with an identical cis arrangement, so, in general, bond geometries lie in expected ranges. In the crystal, C-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into infinite zigzag chains extending along [010].
