ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(15)H(16)N(2)O(3)S, the central C-S(=O)(2)N(H)-C unit is twisted, with a C-S-N-C torsion angle of -56.4?(2)°. The benzene rings form a dihedral angle of 49.65?(15)° with each other. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by N-H?O hydrogen bonds, generating a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(15)H(16)N(2)O(3)S, has a twisted U-shaped conformation. The twist occurs in the central C-S(=O)(2)N(H)-C unit with the C-S-N-C torsion angle being -58.38?(14)°. The benzene rings lie to the same side of the mol-ecule and form a dihedral angle of 67.03?(10)°. The crystal packing features N-H?O hydrogen bonding, which leads to supra-molecular chains with a tubular topology along the b axis. Intra-molecular C-H?O inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:There are two symmetry-independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(16)N(2)O, that differ in conformation. The dihedral angles between the benzene rings in the two mol-ecules are 44.35 (19) and 48.14 (17)°, but the rings twist in opposite directions. The acetamide groups make nearly equal dihedral angles of 25.4 (3) and 25.7 (3)° with the parent benzene rings. An S(6) ring motif is formed in each mol-ecule by intra-molecular C-H⋯O close contacts. In the crystal, strong N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between acetamide groups generate a C(4) chain motif arranging the mol-ecules into two symmetry-independent polymeric structures extending along [010].

Project description:The conformation of the N-H bond in the structure of the title compound, C(9)H(10)ClNO, is syn to the meta-methyl group, in contrast to the anti conformation observed with respect to the meta-nitro group in 2-chloro-N-(3-nitro-phen-yl)-acetamide. The asymmetric unit of the title compound contains two mol-ecules. The geometric parameters of the title compound are similar to those of 2-chloro-N-(4-methyl-phen-yl)-acetamide, 2-chloro-N-(3-nitro-phen-yl)acetamide and other acetanilides.
